Whizkids the company, the corporation that Jordan Weisman founded, is dead. Their IP was bought by NECA who restarted production of the click gaming systems. Point being, Whizkids is now essentially in the same position as Shadowrun and Battletech, being a franchise of a larger company.

IWM's History The TL;DR version: FASA produced its own miniatures. When they folded and Weisman bought out the Battletech IP he spun off the miniatures production (which was not limited only to BT) because his plan was to convert over to the MWDA plastic system (hence no need for the metal minis). ...

Good God what a cluster-fuck! When every eye is on everything they do they fuck the dog like this. Nobody is going to win in this mess. The fan-base of both lines is going to come out fractured and full of hate. No matter which way it goes. Fuck, it wouldn't surprise me if someone died before this ...

OK, lets look at the evidence. You registered for this forum on May 17th, and have only ever posted in this thread. All of the statements you have made in this thread have been attempts to derail the discussion by nitpicking other's arguments, or encouraging debates that deflect attention from CGL's...

What must be understood, to comprehend the greater problems of the BT franchise, is that most of the fanbase did not like the way the Jihad plot was executed, and thus left the game. One of my big pet peeves is when people project their own anecdotal experience as a universal fact. There is no evid...

There's been an official CBT board since at least 2002, so that wasn't what killed the other boards. These boards were communities in themselves, so while many people also visited the official board they still remained active at the fan boards, where they had social connections. In any case, the out...

Oh, and by the way. I feel that the Jihad is fine and cool and fits the universe. I do however, hate the "Dark Age" concept. So don't think there isn't common ground, there is. Having your own personal opinion of the storyline is fine. What must be understood, to comprehend the greater pr...

It's neither. It's actually pretty elegant. It also fits the established gameworld way more perfectly than you'll ever know. But I think we're wandering off topic here. This thread is about CGL's woes, Battletech is produced by CGL, we are discussing the mismanagement of the Battletech franchise, t...

It doesn't matter if FASA had written every word of the storyline and FanPro and CGL just published it, it is still out of context of the previously established gameworld and is poor writing. And it drove fans away from the game in droves, which cannot be denied. The line of thinking you present (sa...

I can tell you that the Word of Blake Jihad was absolutely planned at FASA. I can tell you that most of what you call Deus ex Machina was carefully planned and is being carefully executed. It only looks like Deus ex Machina because you don't know everything yet. I need to be more clear. I'm not say...

I thought I would jump in on the speculation about Battletech and what changes would be needed to the game to make it attractive to more players. Just to give a forewarning, I stopped really following the franchise in 2004, and played my last pickup game around 2007, so I haven't played all of the r...
