There is one area where 3d print technology would probably work and that's scenery (buildings/ruins) on demand. The roughness doesn't matter too much there, you can easily design hollow items to reduce costs while adding cross bracing for strength. Only issues is speed and you can't get around that ...

I've played WHFRP in several editions and it sucked cock for most of the reasons above. You don't feel like you can do anything without massive fail.
