The thing is, Shadzar, it sounds like that to you because you just completely failed to comprehend anything I just said.

You seem to have a habit of doing this then assuming that it's everyone else's fault.

It isn't a land of fairies, but humans represent real world humans, otherwise they would name them Krynnians, Torilians, Athasians, etc rather than humans. What a load of crap. Go read some fucking mythology or something. Go read the fucking game. Funny, I don't see them mentioning that humans were...

Think outside the box of "you just lose your turn." In Guild Wars, some examples are "Deep Wound" which both reduces your maximum hp by a hefty chunk and makes you harder to heal. "Daze" makes it easier to interrupt your actions. Also consider D&D's flanked and flat...

Judging by the astounding success of Twilight, I'd say they're doing a pretty good job. Twilight was a book. They decided people would like the movie because the book was popular. They did not in fact sit down and plot out that girls would love a movie where a vapid girl and a "perfect" v...

Eh, I still like Thousand-Year Door better. Though that's probably mostly because I'm a sucker for any sort of ability customization, and Bowser's Inside Story has nothing equivalent to the badges in the Paper Mario games. And Thousand Year Door has nothing that compares to the action in Bowser's I...

Your ignorance is astounding, and likely tainted by the assumption you can just get infinite cash, at which point anyone fucking breaks the game with super gear. What's the lowest level that an Artificer can do something level appropriate without at least a 10% failure chance? I think Artificers ge...

Re: Alternative to Savage Species' ECL system.

Wouldn't it have been easier to just create a bunch of 'monster feats'/'monster classes' and force people who wanted to start play as, say, an Ettin Fighter take eight or whatever levels in fighter but force them to take the feats of 'Extra Head', 'Dual Mind Coordination', 'Large Warrior', and so-o...

Also, a personal note not related to anything mechanically relevant, I found the flavor in BO9S to be pretty insipid. The names of disciplines and maneuvers read very much like something I'd pull out of a random generator. I have had it with all of WotC's classes that mix some variant of "Swor...

Weeaboo Fightan Magic is a criticism of the book that handing out (or attempting to hand out) powers that can keep up with actual magic makes the game 'too anime'. No offense, but fighters shooting fire and teleporting is pretty anime. (In before "Death Note is anime!") Funny story, 2/3 o...

I'll agree with this, if something is a 100% death chance no matter who you are then it dosen't need to exist.

Chrono Trigger is still very much worth playing even today. Of the SNES RPGs, I'd pick out four as really still relevant today. Those are: Chrono Trigger, Tales of Phantasia (sadly never came out in US), Final Fantasy 6 (3 in the US), and Super Mario RPG. You can totally play any of those right now...

More on video games: Every Mario RPG ever, with the exception of Super Paper Mario and Partners in Time, which I just find average. Out of the entire library of games, I'd have to save that my favorites are Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and Bowser's Inside Story. Those games pretty much do ev...

what games do you like? Just because, ya know, this is the net so all I hear you do is complain about games. Nobody on TGD actually likes anything. We complain about bad games instead of playing good ones. I like 3.5e well enough. And L5R. And Spycraft. And magical teaparty. And a plethora of video...

I agree. There's also plenty of source material where a person of faith is better able to resist mind control and otherwise being tempted from their course, guided by their faithful convictions. Sure. There is plenty of source material to justify splitting up the mental stats any way you like. Ther...

The way I see it, you'd be looking at two mental stats... intelligence and will. Social skills would fill up what Wis has lost in perception skills, as those have to do with exerting your will over others, and stuff like confidence and will helps with your diplomacy, intimidation, etc. By contrast, ...

So, if you remove Charisma as a stat, what attribute modifies things like Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, etc etc. Also, if Wisdom loses its perception role, what skills is it getting? Sense Motive, Spot, Listen, etc all go over to Int. Perhaps things like Intimidate are said to be an issue of willpow...
