I don't understand why studios are lining up to be abused in the same way Wildfire and Posthuman were. From my understanding, there is no real business relationship between SRR, SRO and CGL. Yes, they all do games based on the SR license, owned by Topps (and to some degree by Microsoft). Each is do...

STAR WARS already HAD the best possible gaming system or this franchise, d6. That anyone actually develops yet another STAR WARS rules system even though d6 is open license and free to use, even for a publisher, is totally bonkers.

Aah, Cyberpunk 2.0.2.0. What a great and truly fun game that is.

Yes, it had its flaws, of course, but it's one of the most entertaining flawed games there is.

The game was also directly tied into the CP2020 paper and pen game: There were 3 sets of optional rules about how to use Netrunner as a means to handle Hacking in the game (I think it was var1: Play a game of Netrunner instead of hacking/rolling dice, var2: Play a simplified game of Netrunner just t...

If WotC really wants to take D&D digital, they should just make in-depth custom mission-building the norm. All they have to focus on is making really slick tools for that, and people will make their own content. Instanced worlds and quests could be run in real-time, then saved to a library of s...

May I suggest you/we open a new thread for Mechwarrior stuff? As interesting as all of this is, it's hardly about "The Shadowrun situation".

Thx!

completely agree with hogarth. If I ever get into the situation where I have to explain someone what is wrong with 4E (again) I'll just invite them to Heroes of Neverwinter. I'll say: Here, play this. Except you'll have to imagine playing it without animations, not having a selection wheel but a loa...

At the moment, I don't need a perfect system. Thus, your HR proposal in the ends seems to be working fine for the purposes I have in mind. If I wanted a system that is simple and elegant and that you can easily tweak to be more deadly or less deadly, I'd always opt for CP2020. Interlock feels more s...

Thanks for the clarification! (See, that's one of the reasons I'm hanging out here :) ).

Anyone got a decent houserule for this? (My gaming group may be headed for S-K territory in Berlin some day, and just may encounter military vehicles there :) ).

As my group hasn't had any military-grade action yet, can you tell me what the problem is -- or point me to a thread where this has been discussed?

Many thanks!

The fanboys and hacks will ignore criticism they disagree with anyway, no matter how it is phrased. True. But those who also read those conversations (the "neutrals" who are unaware of who is who) are more likely to find truth in (and sympathize with) a well-written critique than in a wel...

FYI, some good advice on how to phrase discussions on the i-nets. I can take some level of personal attacks, but often I see good arguments and very valid cases ruining it for themselves by an unnecessary attempt at being funny at the cost of another. http://measureofdoubt.com/2011/05/26/how-to-argu...

See, when you claim Dumpshock is the only honest place, that actually does mean you are claiming that the Den is dishonest. I keep on being amazed what you make of my words. I didn't say DS was the only honest place. What I did say was: "That Dumpshock is actually the only real and honest batt...

There's not a misunderstanding on your part, simply a mistake. You were not saying DS was more honest and more polite than the Den. You were just stating DS was honest, the Den was not. Which, as I was pointing out, is not true. Saying what you think is more honest than not saying what you think. P...

If you think the Den is a bunch of people patting each other on the back I want to know what you are smoking. People here rip into each other all the time, and rarely agree on one opinion. That may be true for other topics/Game systems (I wouldn't know), but this for this thread here it sure is tru...

Jason wanted a positive feedback echo chamber, and with a significant amount of help he built one. It's the reason why I really don't give a shit about it or trust anything posted there. You can't. The Den may be a bunch of short sighted dicks who have no self control and a reputation only slightly...

That may be true if the number of copies produced is roughly comparable. If that is (still) the case – or ever was – I simply don't know.

*shrug* If a price is too high, the customers won't buy it. If customers buy it, the price wasn't too high. God knows I wouldn't pay that much for a sourcebook about just some NPCs, but then again I am not a metaplot or NPC follower. Give me a full-color book with less than 200 pages crammed full of...

WotC is in the position of having released Windows XP and followed that up with NT3 and ME. Of course the next issuance is going to be Windows XP Service Pack 2. Duh. Nope. It would be Vista. Duh. (Or, if Vista had already been used, then any other mumbo word) And you know why? Because Windows XP S...
