While this thread is a fine sentiment, those who contribute lack the focus required for it's deliberation. My critique of 4e is that it is a cheap, and rather transparent marketing ploy, to increase income via system overhaul. This will ideally lead to the reproduction of all 3e books with new and, ...

Abstract combat with no concrete or clearly defined environ can be a delightful and time consuming thing.

Simply breaking battle into three range categories of melee, long, and very long is sometimes enough.

Once a rubric of poor fluff writing becomes the accepted norm, it is difficult to raise the bar for quality that would make good writing the accepted norm in it's place.
This is true for most artistic mediums.

Goes back to my earlier point about a large number of the populace not really caring about having correct or functional economies in a fantasy realm. In the end it all boils down to dice rolls to see who's running this, violence, and some young girl's virginity. That is the crude truth of the matter.

Only regeneration can restore your damaged virginity and even that does not deal with the psychological impact of having lost it in a way that was not of your choosing.

Your observations are brilliant. However, I suspect that a large portion of the populace simply does not care about whether the economy works or why a masterwork dagger is worth more than it's weight in gold. Many simply want to sit down, roll some dice, break into the homes of sentient creatures, a...

As is stated by others, a barbarian's connection to rage does indeed manifest as blasts of fire or water if you are using a barbarian variant which offers such features. Flavor interpretations aside, even if a fighter does manage to duplicate these feats, it can not and will not be simply because th...

Indeed. Were I among their number, I would make it a point to divine the location of that dead dragon's lair and collect the bed of gold and trinkets. To each their own though.

This sounds like yet another instance of dm's who fall in love with their monsters. Attacking the infrastructure of a vehicle will not solve a matter when at it's core, you are displeased with it's driver's driving.

I will answer this in terms that make sense to you. What is the difference between a cleric of the god battle and a fighter who also worships and prays to the god of battle for victory? The cleric has a better connection to the god of battle and may thus draw upon it for results that manifest in var...
