Re: Races of War

I maintain the pdf version of this (well, all 4 books). You can find it here:
middendorfproject.googlepages.com

Or, a direct link to the current version

Be warned, the current version is 210 pages.

If your opponent puts it in the middle after you take a corner you've won, yes.

I think you're confused. Tic-Tac-Toe is still a Cat's game at that point, so long as you can think a couple of moves ahead, which is pretty easy in Tic-Tac-Toe.

Re: Feat based skill progression

So, essentially, you like the Saga thing where all the skills are level scaling, but instead of having the bonuses be +5 and +10 from the getgo, you want them to scale. Instead of having a somewhat random chart, I suggest that you simply say that skill training gives a +3 bonus (increases to +4 at l...

Re: Rough Sketches of Skill Feats

Hide

As mentioned in the Dungeonomicon, Hide should not require cover or concealment to function.

That's great, but does neither cover nor concealment give you any bonuses then? It seems like being half hidden should give some sort of circumstance bonus.

Honestly, the easiest way to make a trap memorable is to *combine* it with an encounter. Sure, you can make it *into* an encounter, but that takes work and skill.

Re: NPC classes

If I were to do this more than haphazardly, then I would have put it all (ability scores too) into a giant table. Level, BAB, attack bonus, ability scores, HP, skill ranks, whatever. Precalculated. I bet you could fit at least one, maybe two per 8.5 x 11". It's still useful to have the stats, i...

Portable holes are 6' in diameter, which means they more or less take up one square, and they're 10' deep.

You could throw and light oil in various squares.

Setup rudimentary trip-lines.

Scrolls of Color Spray have a DC of 11... That means even with a save bonus of +0, you have a 50% chance of success. And it's a 15' cone, so unless you're willing to go up close to the opposition, you're not going to get that many enemies.[br][br] Will saves are usually the lowest or second lowest y...
