PhoneLobster and wotmaniac, among others, have pretty much refused to acknowledge that the problems of that WoF tries to address even exist. One more time -- stop putting words in my mouth. I've said no such thing -- I've said that you're approaching it from the wrong end. The problems that you're ...

There are millions of people who play card games like Magic, and there are card games that are role playing games like Lace & Steel, Engel, and to an extent Everway and the original Deadlands. Magic the Gathering is "Fantasy Gaming". And it's beating the pants off of TTRPGs. Okay, wit...

I can't believe I haven't already asked this but are WoF rolls made for the other side too? Does this mean that the MC is making extra rolls for each enemy or that one roll determines where on each enemy's matrix you are? Are enemies set to use the same WoF table as players and if so then wouldn't ...

WoF is a massive time sink and additional complexity of resolution issue . I wholeheartedly concur (and I think I touched on this tangentially). The time sink is actually threefold: 1) the time spent actually developing this contrived "resource management" system ; 2) character sheet mana...

I think that this conversation is done being useful. Really? Useful for who? Just tired of having to keep defending certain indefensible claims/positions? Okay, then it won't hurt to say this: the main issue against this really is about player agency. If you want to limit options, just flat-out lim...

Savage Worlds, what little I've played it, seem pretty fun.
From what I understand, the fantasy supplement is fairly solid.

It's a pretty bare-bones system, that claims "fast, furious, fun"; and as far as I can tell, it delivers.

First, let me get the miscellany out of the way: 'these problems you're complaining about don't exist!' I mean, seriously ML, you just jumped right in and said that option paralysis isn't a problem--even though hilariously enough another poster on this and the previous page said the same thing and d...

EDIT: was falling asleep before I finished this, and then went to work right after I woke up. Please forgive the random/sporadic posting. Wow. Wotmanic, you're a moron. I just had to get that insult out front and center because this is the Den. I expect nothing less. Now I'm going to cut up ...

There is no such as a "social problem, not a game problem." A game is a set of rules and guidelines designed to facilitate a social interaction. Like all sets of social customs, it is "better" the less vulnerable it is to being fucked up by defects in the personalities of the pa...

I as I understand things, this whole WoF attempts to do a few things: - avoid option paralysis - avoid same-move spamming You're missing the third (and possibly most important) goal: - improve on lousy resource management systems like charges/day Oh yeah. (I knew I forgot something -- I always do t...

Okay, so now that I've read a fair amount on the issue, I think I may be ready to weigh in on this. Let's see what we've got: I as I understand things, this whole WoF attempts to do a few things: - avoid option paralysis - avoid same-move spamming Well, this smacks of condescending hand-holding to m...

http://www.tgdmb.com/viewtopic.php?t=49999 Warning: Long and boring and argumentative. Thanks. That was actually quite entertaining. Oh, and sorry for the lag -- just got off of work. Having read all that, I must say that I'm not quite sure that I was swayed much. Everything still seems to boil dow...

link it up, please.
the only resistance that I've ever gotten had to do with "change bad ; fear change". anything else seems like it would be just a smoke-screen.

Back to the NFL, bring back the scabs already, the game is just as fun to watch with the bottom 1/2 of the top 1% of players, instead of the top 1/2 of 1% of players. Bring back the scabs and you might find this union hating conservative joining the picket lines. Seriously professional football sho...

alright, this one is gonna be a bit lengthy; but I'm more than a little passionate about this one: First, my final assessment of this: screw the prima donna players . Now, the only concession that I think that the owners should make is over season length -- for me, moving the season to 18 games just...
