Because you know that would make the same amount of sense. When someone points out they aren't racist, we can compromise by calling them racist enough, because that would be as accurate as "Mundane Enough" is here. I don't understand what you're saying. There is no Compromise, I am a raci...

If you have to call something "Mundane Enough" you are explicitly admitting that mundane is a bad word for the concept. We're trying out this new conflict resolution technique called "Compromise." I understand that it's incredibly advanced and pretty much like some bleeding edge...

How about... I use the term "Extraordinary" and other people can use "Realistic?" Then we can take Mundane out back and shoot it in its ambiguous face. Would this help? Would this make it easier to understand? -e- because seriously, it is fucking hilarious how fast Mistborn jumps...

Yeah, you're totally right. I'm just used to thinking in terms of D&D paradigms. That shit can be completely toxic.

What's the point, Wrathzog, of having both Mundane and Magical abilities if neither of them have any conceptual limits? I only said that Magical abilities don't really have any limits. Mundane abilities definitely do. Nitpicking aside, the point is to allow for the existence of classes like The Fig...

Whatever you wanna give the mundanes has to be something that you can only get by being mundane. No. No, that's a silly way to do things. Mostly because it's impossible. Magic does basically anything it wants almost by definition and will always envelop the domain of the mundane man. If a Wizard se...

My main point was that we should allow super-strong/smart/charming mundanes to replicate magical effects through being "just that good." I agree with this. I think we lose out on a lot of design space if we say stuff like, "No, you can only do that with MAGIC." and then just sor...

So if I want to create game content of any sort, what are the basics I might need to learn? If you can find a blog or any articles written by the designer of [insert your favorite game], that's where I would start. Like way back when, I read pretty much everything by Mark Rosewater. Also, read up o...

Not sure Dogs would make a compelling player character, they'd lack large amount of interaction with the game. I can't say I'd see a reason for Tribals to be a race, qualities or traits to represent them sure, but they're just humans like any raider/wastelander/Trader. Tactics still gave us Dog as ...

If you find out that the question itself is offensive to the group, you may want to just stop and play a blaster or somethi...

Played: Used a World Building game/system called Dawn of Worlds (it needs work) to make our next D&D campaign world. The intent was to have some sort of Game of Thrones political game going but we instead managed to recreate about 75% of the races in Guild Wars 2 on accident (most notably, warp...

In those games, some enemies have a very large amount of health. For instance, you can shoot a tough enemy with an automatic weapon dozens of times without killing him. Having separate hit locations is an important part of combat. These are both things that got changed quite a bit in the newer Fall...

As per Tactics and Dogmeat, Dogs are the animal race you'd want for the game. It's arguable as to whether you'd want to make Tribals their own race.

I don't even know what "mundane" means in this setting. Someone who can't use technology? It's someone who Doesn't use technology. Keep in mind that while anyone in D&D world could potentially learn how to rape the laws of the universe and gain a level in Wizard, not everyone has the ...

You would actually be hard-pressed to make an "everything else that loses" team. You'd need a team that: can't counter sleep This actually answers my question. I keep typing things to Koumei but I keep ending up at the same point: You are a Casual Player who wants to play his Casual Game....

So, without the Sleep Clause, what would the metagame for Competitive Pokemon be like?

because if it's "Sleep Team," "Anti-Sleep Team," and "Everything else that Loses," then that is a shitty meta.

I'll agree with you that D&D really isn't (and shouldn't be) about people's delicate parts, but the art definitely is. If I was the Art Director for D&D Anything, I would do whatever I needed to to hire Adam Hughes and Frank Cho to draw a bunch of cheesecake and it would be fantastic.

Koumei, you want to play casual pokemon. That's cool, man. Very cool. I can dig that. Personally, I stack my team with as many fire and fighting types as possible (which means Rape Ape is always on my team). Unfortunately, Pokemon isn't really balanced, which isn't good for competitive play, which i...

DA:O Mages are modelled after Warhammer psykers; incredibly powerful, but with a high chance of going insane and being possessed. Lorewise, it fits that mages can fuck everything up, including themselves. My favorite part of playing through both Dragon Ages was being a Blood Mage, casting blood mag...

Any particular reasons why? Radiant Phoenix and Ishy basically answered this for me. It's easier to deal with straight numbers as opposed to a character that can do a wide variety of things (well). But K's right that a lot of games totally have height restrictions, so it's not like being super broa...
