You know, the whole "feats for every circumstance" thing would work... if you had dozens of feats to spend. If you have only a limited number of feats, then the feats need to be more versatile and have more effects. +2 on Hide and Move Silently pales in comparison to Greater Invisibility ...

Abolutely nothing. It's the only useful idea to come out of 4E power sources.

The other optimizer and me usually aim for tier 3. If we have to play tier 1 or 2 classes, try to stick to spells that work within the game instead of going straight for the can of rape. The third optimizer just played a PF summoner in a kingmaker campaign. Around level 12, he got sick of raping eve...

Statblocks (3E and 4E) need a significant reduction in size. There's generally too much redundant information and stats that could be combined. You might as well for instance, use Reflex as initiative. That way you eliminate the need to write out initiative separately. 4E was a nice experiment with...

Mages shouldn't automatically be good at all kinds of magic. More Beguiler, Dread Necromancer, Warmage, less wizard.

Speakinging of sloppy writing: Spell-like abilities that don't duplicate any spells, but have a unique effect. It's in the fucking name of the ability class, "spell-like", fucking [EDITED] writers!

Yeah, the rules suggest that if you're playing monsters or templates, you should start out with about equal CR, but it's only a suggestion.

Metamagic cost reduction is mostly non-existent in pure PF. Spell Perfection at level 15 is one, but that's about it.

I've heard that Jon Chung is working on the rules, and he generally seems to have a grip on mechanical issues. Ultimately, though, the Exalted system is just a fucking mess; short of a massive re-write by someone other than White Wolf, any improvements will be minor at best. Having Jon Chung in is ...

Though I think Pathfinder also has hatred of 4e going for it - this is what I hear from my friends who like it. That, and less splatbooks to read through/memorize.
Sure - if you ask me who's done the most for PF, I'd have to go with Mike Mearls.

Not really. Charmed and dominated can just be status conditions and those spells give you that status condition. Figments can largely be defined by keyword and the actual spell text can just be "creates a single figment of large size with visual components only." 4E powers can be plugged ...

It's probably easier to understand if you don't live under a two-party system, but it's actually possible to have dissent and still not listen to the crazy. If you're forced to give even the show of consideration to the crazy viewpoint, it's too easy to carry the crossed-arms, fixed-smile, head-nodd...

I'm just being an advocate of the Devil here, but isn't it largely agreed that PrCs for Wizard and Cleric generally gave you more powers for nothing? I'm not saying it's a particularly well thought out or implemented fix, but I can kind of see their motivation. Clerics are not affected by this - th...
