... trolls will have a god of growing limbs back, and so on and so forth. Isn't that the equivalent of a human god of bowel movements or opposable thumbs? Honestly, there are only one or two bodily functions I'd care enough about to venerate them in an idealized form, and they aren't the ones I tak...

Since humans can pay attention to seven things at most, seven might be a good maximum number for your pantheon. Less is, most of the times, even better, especially if the gods are multi-faceted and have a varied portfolio.

Edith corrected unneccessary repetition.

Re: Utility and Combat Spells Occupying the same Slot

In 3.5E and earlier editions players could choose both utility and combat spells within the same spell slots. Comprehend Languages and Color Spray are both first level spells. Acid Arrow and Knock are both second level spells. 4E tried to separate (most) utility spells into Rituals and left the com...

Material components are an exercise in book-keeping. Which, by and large, is bad. On the other hand, there is a large and thriving market for games concentrating on and glorifying book-keeping, so I suppose there's an audience for everything. I usually don't mind material components if they are opti...

Speaking of 4e, one of the actually worthwhile multiclassing ideas in that heap of...um...something negative was the option to choose different paragon paths / epic destinies based on your multiclassing choice. That one's probably a keeper, as long as your class system is tiered. For example, Mighty...

AD&D multiclassing was stupid from day one. Human multiclassing was simply a veiled punishment for daring to have meaningful character development (of a kind), and the meta-human multiclassing was arbitrary and stupid. I still don't see the difference between a fighter/cleric and a paladin (or a...

Wow. Who came up with that name? 'Cause it sounds less like contact poison and more like a cock enchantment allowing you to 'hurl' spears of frozen piss at your enemies.

Another couple of options for vows of poverty: 1. It's all about the looks. Characters with a vow of poverty may use magical items at their leisure, since they are seen simply as tools to accomplish a task - ascetic or not, no faith will deny its monks some books if the monk's task is research. Only...

Lazy Cop-Out

You can always take the lazy road and have characters with a vow of poverty sacrifice items of power to their god, upon which they are bestowed powers of the same nature as the items would have provided (or similar ones). So if you sacrifice the +5 vorpal sword you gain the 'punishing pimpfists of g...
