Re: [Non-US] News That Makes You laugh/cry/neither...
Oh and I want to add. Various Western governments may be going for this Media before Reality strategy. But even that is flawed on its own terms because they do not in actual fact control the corporate media and it has instincts beyond self preservation and towing the war hawk party line. The media l...

Re: The Biden Administration (No Lago)
Also. This is not a thing which has finished happening and will immediately start to be forgotten. It has only STARTED happening. It could be REALLY huge and take AGES to finish, after all, a certain Israeli leader basically is fighting resignation demands exclusively on the basis of the war still g...

Re: The Biden Administration (No Lago)
We're living in a time where I've seen more pro Palestinian support than I think I've ever seen and the people in power are just ignoring it, or worse, actively attempting to suppress it. Ever since the Ukraine propoganda blitz (hey are the two weeks it was supposed to take to win that war up yet?)...

Re: The Biden Administration (No Lago)
Well rumors have been saying the Biden admin is panicking over polling data based on them shedding support with younger voters over the whole Israel debacle.
This seems like the sensible centrist solution they would reach for to square that circle.

Re: [Non-US] News That Makes You laugh/cry/neither...
This is genuinely insane. A week ago I couldnt guess what the hell the plan was for western politicians fully supporting this when a week passed and it was clear that it was an unprecedented atrocity. Now its already clear and I cant help but wonder what the fucking hell the plan is when the smoke c...

Re: Australia. Getting ready to dissapoint the world
Basically the previous conservative government was so incredibly full of scams that now every time they try to do anything they trip over one of their own recent historical scams. Whats even better is one of the top three scam guys from that era is actually the same guy now running the conservative ...

Re: Australia. Getting ready to dissapoint the world
So interesting dynamic from the conservative party here over the voice and its rejection. The voice proposal was the result of a conservative party community consultation project during an era when they thought they could sort of coral the aboriginal vote in far north queensland. They also thought t...

Re: Australia. Getting ready to dissapoint the world
Ok some low profile articles asking the "is we racist" questions id like to see are around barely. But my favourite so far was a first dog on the moon political cartoon on the topic in the guardian (au). Not for anything it says or not itself. Its first dog on the moon "mostly innocio...

Re: Australia. Getting ready to dissapoint the world
My local city voted Yes. Which is slightly surprising. And so if I had voted 20 minutes down the road I could say I contributed to a Yes vote which if replicated across the nation would have been almost exactly the margin required for an over all yes win. But I actually live in the "rural"...

Re: Biden Announces Reelection Campaign
Considering what israel is gearing up to do next and how unpopular they already are with the voters i cant imagine what the political class thinks they are going to be looking like in about a week and how they plan to distance themselves when it turns out theyve been openly giving unconditional supp...

Re: Biden Announces Reelection Campaign
Mad crackdowns on pro palastinian protests in the west are being pretty damn extra right now. Our media have been increasingly hawkish and imperliast since the post iraq crackdowns on dissent but that even our ostensibly left of center governments here in Australia are trying to criminilize these pr...

Look i know there are genuine outright antisemite nazis out there. But as a general rule when someone is being bludgeoned in the media for being anti Israel its almost always a blunt tool against the left.

Re: Australia. Getting ready to dissapoint the world
So the no campaign has a lot of scare tactics and lies. Ties into all sorts of crack pot far right conspiracy and even the sovereign citizens movement. Best one i have now heard from a prominent no leader. The accusation is that "they" want an entire parrallel government of equal size with...

It doesnt take any deep observation of israel to understand that every possible event ends up being applied as a justification for killing more palastinians. You already identified it noticing that the palastinian attacks here whatever else you might think were provoked but the media israel and the ...

Re: Australia. Getting ready to dissapoint the world
Even seemingly decent australians dont like to face how racist a majority of other australians are. The referendum hasnt really made them face it because unlesss you are campaigning no one that addled and fence sitting is actually required to talk to a no voter about their oppinions on aboriginals. ...

Australia. Getting ready to dissapoint the world
So you maybe remember everyone thinking australians seem nice. Then the internet happened and you all ended up talking to us. Then people specifically from the uk us and canada were still like you guys seem nice. Right up until an australian ever mentioned aboriginals in any context. And people were...

I was DOING scarier things when I was 8.
Maybe that was just rural Australian childhood for you.

Best I heard were dumb asses arguing about the rating on steam. Which went. "Hey guys 45 percent of those rating the game seem to have gotten a key without a direct purchase" Then fanboys so dumb they couldn't come up with "not a direct purchase could mean a lot of things. As could th...

Is this a window for me to say I think the new Baldur's gate is ok but overated and fundamentally flawed in ways that make it not my thing.
Like all the other Baldur's gates.
Waaaaay overated. Like all the other Baldur's gates.
