I agree, that makes sense for your training, and average Baali methodology. You could probably pull that on the average Baali, and it would totally work. If you pulled that on Diego, though, you'd either get captured yourself (if you were foolish enough to try it in a place where he could melee you)...

Not much point in getting into a dick-waving contest, but for reference: fire really isn't Diego's go-to option, for Vow of Silence related reasons. When I said physical combat, I actually meant unarmed, grappling-type stuff, which Diego is especially good at. But combat is combat... if you insist o...

I get where you're coming from, but Diego has excellent resistances, and is therefore very unlikely to be defeated before he's aware there is a combat. So Diego wakes up, there's a quick Veil vs Discernment test, which probably goes Diego's way since it's harder to Veil while actively attacking (in ...

First things first; Diego doesn't advertise the fact that he has it, nor what it does. Now, the Order of Daziban probably has a pretty good idea, given the unpleasantness between them... so if you're playing the Daziban flavor instead of the Oracle flavor (you haven't indicated which version you act...

Stellar Oracles... ew. Too self-righteous for my tastes. And the Communes are technically PNG in Mexico, so there's basically none of them there. WCL would work better IMO, if you're trying to get everyone in the same side, without all being part of the dominant faction. That said, I get the idea th...

I didn't have a choice about Learn the Heart's Pain, actually; that's a Baali intrinsic. I would not have taken it otherwise, and am not particularly good at it as is. The optional powers I did take were Conditioning, to do the mindslave thing, Revive the Flesh > Restoration, to be immortal, and Clo...

@Everyone On reviewing resources I'm going to reduce the resources to 4 and not allow anyone to increase a resource higher than 4 using it. @Endovior 3 Points is good, but to be clear, it has to physically eat other things to obtain the information, it cannot copy them, so no one is going to lend y...

Resources-wise, the one magical thing I really want is a library of Infernal Sorcery, but since that's cheap and I've got spare points for it, I was thinking I'd make it more convenient then a full library of books, and instead have The Grand Grimoire, a rather thick book which is a full library in ...

Mostly, I meant that the game generally seems to draw a pretty sharp distinction between things that let you buy a new resource, and things that let you increase an existing one; specifically, there's notably more of the former. This is, of course, because having a few high resources is better then ...

Fair enough. That said, I'm mostly done (at the 'fleshing out the background' stage). Quick question for Kaelik regarding the resources: when you're saying add 6 points in Resources, does that mean divide the number 6 into as many new resources as you'd prefer, or can you devote any/all of those poi...

Ah. Didn't see that one... but the point remains. Are you intending to play that because you actually have a good idea about how you'd go about playing that, and are enthused about the concept and such? Or just because it's a weird historical tidbit that caught your attention? As far as my character...

I think the idea is we're looking at a PbP/IRC hybrid... y'know, PbP for the slow-moving between-scenes busywork, and IRC for the complicated important stuff that'd take forever to get through in PbP. Also... 'Android' tends to equate to 'Sex Doll' anyway, based on archetype alone; this can be toned...

Hmm... Sunday works fine. Afternoon works fine. Unfortunately, I do work Monday and Wednesday evenings/nights. That said, I do work from home... so it's not an insurmountable conflict, in the sense it would be if I had to commute. Well then make characters you assholes. I lol'd. Working on it right ...

Re: Rethinking D&D: Scalability
I do believe the D&D generalist wizard/cleric needs to go. They are just too broad in concept for other classes to exist without seeming like more restricted versions. Yes. Or at least, restrict the majority of their spellslots/at will options, but offer the option to prepare generalized effect...

Re: Plebes and Powers: A Cynical Superhero universe
Boy Scout defeats his Nazi counterpart, just barely, and brings Adolf Hitler to justice. The Fuhrer stands trial for his crimes in this reality and is sentenced to lifetime house arrest. He eventually dies in his own bed of pancreatic cancer at the age of 105. Ubermench is exiled to the moon. Uh......

Off to the Laugh/Cry thread with this one... EDIT: Huh, apparently we don't have one now. To summarize: the post...

Not familiar with Doomsday, but aren't Hulk and Thing both scientists? And thus theoretically capable of solving non-combat problems by 'doing science to them' in the same sense as their cohorts? Now, admittedly, I can't think of an example offhand where the Thing is the primary instigator of a scie...

Okay, so there actually was a player use for Energons. I stand corrected. Still, they were certainly the most obscure things mentioned; and it was a valid question to ask why them and not Mummies. After all, when you say 'Mummy', everyone knows what you're talking about, and when you say 'Xag-Ya', t...

I think you've got it in one; rather like Revenants, Mummies, being magically bound to the eternal task of guarding a specific tomb, are Lawful Evil if negative energy is evil, and Lawful Neutral if it's not. Why wasn't this mentioned explicitly? Most likely because: 1: Mummies aren't a special case...

Agreed. You can't have something that's 'partly real' or 'real unless disbelieved' or whatever; that shit is inherently inconsistent, and leads to all sorts of problems. You could consistently say that mages just plain don't have any real world effects, period; that whatever it appears they are doin...
