Re: Skill System Fix

Eh, the rough mechanic is probably used in a number of places, but specific to d20, it's from Iron Heroes. IIRC, they address class/non-class by letting you take ranks in class skill groups (the same thing as taking 1 rank in each skill in the group) or taking ranks in other stuff. Generally, the fi...

Re: Make Me a Necropolis

I'd note that controlling the undead is a lot easier if you don't use 'The Crawling Darkness'. If you're just 'Playing With Fire', then your undead will continue on, regardless of the death of the peon who gave them their orders.

Re: Make Me a Necropolis

I wouldn't recommend Necromantic Intelligences for economic purposes; they're too likely to turn against their makers. Consider a Necromantic Intelligence tasked to fill a warehouse with goods. The moment anyone came to empty it, the Intelligence would devote all of it's efforts to attacking and des...

Why can't evil make a mutualistic society? Consider Mind Flayers.[br][br][br] The illithid have a bad reputation among the other sentient races: the mind flayers see them as food, and most races take offense to that viewpoint. It should be the fuel for a war of extinction on the illithid race, but t...

I'm well aware of the many ways to get around spell resistance (although they trivialize such, I will be demonstrating), I was specifically looking for some decent number crunching, like what Frank provided. Thanks, Frank!

Re: getting kicked from the gaming group

The appropriate response to such a thing is a short, rational, out-of-character discussion.

If they fail to see reason, the next appropriate response is to attack and kill the party, tell them all to roll up new characters, and walk away laughing.

Spell Resistance Makes Wizards Useless?

Despite multiple attempts to convince them otherwise, the group I'm currently in still fervently believes that Core is balanced. Indeed, I was just recently informed that 'Fighters are actually the most powerful class'. The core of their assumption? They seem to think that Spell Resistance makes Wiz...

Flowing Time: On some planes, time can flow faster or slower. One may travel to another plane, spend a year there, then return to the material plane to find that only six seconds have elapsed. Feh, that's not even optimal. There are planes where a round on the material plane equals a year. They're good places for immortal characters to max out their age bonuses or do other incredibly time-consuming things.
