The point is that while D&D can be played like these games, arguing we still should do this in 2012 it's not conductive to bringing more people to the table. Seriously guys, stop trying to sell that D&D has "real danger" where only "optimized characters" can survive. Thi...

I think it was when you did indeed pick a class from a non core book. You guys where playing two different games. Dm+Paladin where playing core DND books + paladin is mary sue game. You where playing code books + PHB II. End result, nobody had fun. I belive the apropriate responce here is "Go ...

Listen I'll say this one more time if people want to make joke characters the they can make joke characters If someone really, really, want's to be less powerful than the rest of the party thats fine I don't think we need to write a class for that. People on other sites still think that swordguy is ...

Most of the gist of the thread I got was stuff like "I abused the rules better than the paladin guy, even when the DM frontloaded all the dice in his favour". I missed the part where some other dude drop out. What the actuall fuck at what point did I abuse the rules. Was it when I took a ...

Thanks for the honest explanation. Yeah that game does sound like it sucked. Did you ever confront the DM on it? All of that was in my previous posts if you want to spew passive-agressive bullshit at least read the thread first. As for the DM if three players walking out doesn't convince him of any...

I'm sorry but I don't ascribe to the One True Way™ that is the generally accepted way to play, nor do I ascribe to the One True Way© on that other board. If someone wants to play something that is limited then you know what? If they're happy they're happy. In a perfect world things would be balance...

Regarding the topic. So basically what you did is step into a not so experienced group, disrupted them with your superior knowledge of the game and then walked away? Just because they called themselves "real veterans". Somehow you are also proud about this, and others congratulate you for...

Well I've always said that a campagin that goes for 5 levels without at least one character death is a dull afair.

Cause you know what? Having someone be a basic melee fighter isn't going to make or break the game. Having somone be a basic melee fighter does break the game though. It breaks the game in every edition of D&D. If dumbfuck McMundane Swordguy is a 20 level class then that implies that playing hi...

This is why you have tiers, as explicitly fucking stated above. All of the Wizard 1-5 levels are balanced with the Rogue 1-5 levels, but neither is balanced with the Fighter 6-10 levels. The 6-10 levels have higher level powers that aren't balanced in low level play. Guess what Grek you're getting ...

If you are doing it to make encounters harder, you can just make encounters harder. It's not like the players are not going to catch on to the fact that minmaxing a monster is increasing its power dramatically. It just makes you look like a douche for trying to pretend that the encounter should not...

If you are just minmaxing for the sake of minmaxing, go suck a barrel of cocks. Is there any other reason to minmax. ^_^ If you are trying to make fun encounters for players, there is a slight possibility that there is still enough goodwill left to provide you with suggestions. Hey, he still has pl...

To be perfectly honest if you can't staple 5-6 well chosen class abilities/spells/feats to make something mindblowing then the people writing your game are being too timid. The occasional broken combo as far less of a problem at real tables then the game being boring because the game doesn't offer m...

Ya know at time like this I really think that the arc the universe bends towards justice. Mitt Romney was trailing in the polls before and after this I don't think that he can catch up not if he's already writing off 47% of the U.S. It's poetic in a way after cloaking himself in scecrets and lies fo...

Since this is what I'm good at (sort of) LM Presents Monster to troll your party with Part 1: show me on the doll where the monster grappled you The Grapple rules are sort of a clusterfuck and it's easy for monster to have absurd grapple mods making them just the thing to troll your party with. No, that is the worst multiclassing system ever. You don't want a fighter 10 / warblade 1 to be a lot stronger than a fighter 2/warblade1/fighter 8 So not exactlly like the ToB. That sort of problem is fairly easy to hotfix if you're re-writing the rules. In that particular case most of the problem...

I always thought the way martial adepts multiclassed where you use half your levels in other classes for your intiator level was close to the ideal for multiclassing. So say you're a Fighter 4 and take a level of rogue, you get sneak attack and trapfinding as a 3rd level rogue but you don't get evas...

Troll = function of monster, not species of monster. You also seem mad for some reason. Still looking for ideas. For trolling players non-associated class levels if a must. Nothing is funnier than the look on your players faces when a troll or some other brute monsters starts casting wizard spells ...

So I haven't following 5e very much but, It seems like it would be fair to say Merals is just throwing buzzwords and stale ideas at the wall to see what sticks. Anyway this thread is fairly moot unless we have stats for military attack aircraft in d20... Anyone here know if any military aircraft were writen up for d20 modern.
