] I personally think that if your enjoyment is predicated on not thinking about what you're doing and ignoring cognitive dissonance then something is deeply wrong. Your avatar is King Kupa, so presumably you think he's cool. Why do you think serial rapist-kidnappers are cool? Cracked.com would like...

Why do you even need a save? If someone tells me the illusionary orc is an illusion, why do I even need to make a save? - You already said the illusion persists as an opaque illusion regardless of whether or not you believe it, so there's no benefit to a successful save. - Figments can't actually h...

So you're making magic items incredibly rare? As in, some random orcs would never have them, probably not even a general of an army would, maybe the ruler of a large enough empire might have a few. That's pretty different than the standard setting, but ok, we'll run with ... No just expensive relat...

Then it goes on to talk about roles. In FATAL, the game runner is called the Aedile (pron. EE-dial, apparently). Yes. It's apparently the title of a roman official who oversaw games. Cute. What was that at the beginning? Oh, right, things outside of medieval Europe don't exist in FATAL. Hmm... well...

Improving a Resource doesn't give you anything, though. I figure that a good balance is that any time you make a Resource Check, its value is reduced by one after a successful check. no offense, but that's fucking retarded. that might work as a system for tracking uses of stockpiles (except I don't...

Re: Core Principle: Fantasy Social Orders Are Unstable
I think you've got it backward frank, nationalism starts with an arbitrary group of people and they try to get their own blotch on the map. either by ripping chunks out of an existing blotch (sepratists) or by mushing places together,( unificiation movements).

Also Honorable guy who doesn't agree with the Dark Lord, but is apparently still willing to stab babies for him (or at least, look the other way while others do the stabbing). I say fuck that guy. Guy who was duped by the Dark King. This is fairly valid...but why do you hold the PCs to a higher standard than this guy? They have no way of knowing he's an innocent dupe...but you'll hold them guilty for killing him in self-defense, whereas you won't hold HIM guilty for fighting for an evil pers...

what do we think of the idea of having access to the rest of your abilities at a penalty? that way you'll typically use what the WoF gave you against level-appropriate opposition, but if you have a good enough combo or the enemy has a particular weakness, or is just trash-mob that the right attack w...

Every last gnome in halfling lands today is technically a slave. this seems... wrong, some how. if you're going with halflings as quasi-romans, it was not remotely uncommon for slaves to be freed. In fact, I'm fairly certain that manumission has been present to some degree in every system of slaver...

I disagree with hogarth. Keeping up the Paul Bunyan theme, at low levels he's just a pretty damn good lumberjack with a heroic streak. Which Paul Bunyan story are you referring to? the problem here is that no one tells the stories about whne the hero was level one because people rarely care about l...
