There is something wrong in a world that ridiculizes duck-men and glorifies bears with halloween pumpkins for heads.

Runequest 6 is, according to my Runequest veteren GM friend, barely different from Mongoose Runequest 2. This is true. No it's a terrible game that still has fumble rules and describes it's combat system as realistic, making it worse than Hitler This is not true. Whats your problem with realism in ...

RQ was a game system built in the late 70s. Heck, 2nd edition was copyright 1980, first was 1978 iirc. It looks like it too, but it works ok within it's limits. It explodes at higher power levels, but so do most games of that period. The license/sale of RQ to AH was a total fisaco, so the system wa...

A world, such as Glorantha, where there are seriously multiple deities who manage the rising of the sun is so incomprehensible that I seriously have no fucking clue how that's supposed to work. Of course you know, you just answered yourself: Cultures believed in their own sun god, and laughed at th...

Glorantha doesn't have the same brooding angstful goth poet wannabe thing going on that Vampire does, but it is emphatically a setting that thinks it's clever, and wants to make sure you realize just how clever it thinks it is. Im a Glorantha fan, and I must, sadly, agree with this. Luckly though, ...

Yes, and plurality at that level leads to a completely non-sensical world. Thank you for making my point for me. Like our own world, you mean ? Yeah, having 4 sun gods - Ra, Amatareasu, Apollo and Huitzilopochtli - is really non-sensical. If your definition of "does religion right"...

Speaking of King of Dragon Pass, its designer showed a new screen that got taken out from the full game, a cow-tentacle-raping Walktapus : http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tF1enKg-wxM/UVeXHXLmNLI/AAAAAAAAAfc/WnLFDxuEIjs/s1600/sceneR257.jpg According to the blog, its expected that the next patch bring a lot...

I believe you mean Glorantha, as Runequest is the system and does not, in any version I've seen, intrinsically do religion "right" or even "wrong." So youre in need of glasses. All editions of Runequest (from 1st ed to RQ6/Legend that we get nowadays) have rules for cult members...

I doubt a pipe would do any good for this fella, though.

In many of the best games, the fluff and the crunch are intimately connected... Bad games tend to be marked by a severe disconnect between fluff and crunch This. :thumb: Thats why I cited RQ/Glorantha as a great example (specially the old books like Cults of Prax). And well remembered sir - Earthda...

I'm going to dignify the bizarre Glorantha trolling with a single word of reply (and even that is more than it deserves): Ducks. Well, if silly races are indicative of a game qualities... ... can we start throwing all copies of Dungeons & Dragons in the thrash bin too ? http://i599.ph...

The thing about Glorantha is that its a setting created by a mythologist as a vehicle for his experiments the same way Middle Earth is a vehicle for a linguist´s experiments. Thus its cultural and mythological aspects are rich and "organic" in a way few other settings do. Its the only sett...

Most of what I know about Glorantha comes from The King Of Dragon Pass, which is a pretty kickass game. This. King of Dragon Pass is the best intro for the setting so far, and perfectly demonstrate its differential to other fantasy rpg settings out there, in the way its culture and religion drives ...

Welcome to the Den, Silva. Do you do anything besides shill for Glorantha? Yeah, I shill for Shadowrun too. I feel compelled to mention that many RPGs take place in some variation of the real world, where presumably the religions are at least as meaningful and anthropologically sound as a...

Lets be frank here: religion in D&D ( and in most rpgs, really) is just disposable background fluff for justifying divine spells. Runequest is the only game to do religion in a way that is meaningful and anthropologically sound (with Tekumel as a distant, but honorable, second place). Everything...

We had no imaginary sex at all with AW, since we found the "sex moves" kind of weird at first and disnt use em. That is until Ive read it again and noticed the "sex moves" actually deal with what happens after the act, not during it. So, its not necessary to narrate any sexual in...

You could fight AD&D's Lolth. Fuck, you were supposed to. And that was cool. Did Lolth (or indeed, any other god) have actual godly powers that affected the world but weren't really combat abilities? For instance, could she telepathically communicate with/look through the eyes of all the spider...

Let me quote a pal from TheRPGsite: I am really impressed with the ideas presented in Runequest/Legend. You build a magic system or a cult and the more a character pursues a particular path, the more ingrained they become with subsequent improvements, access, social mobility, and knowledge. It's all...
