This is an important point: the ability to go around asking people and have a contact list is an inherent ability of a character. Regardless of whether you accomplish a goal by having NPCs come up and help you or spitting on the ground and affecting change by magic, the fact is that anything that y...

I've always wondered: when people say 'PCs should only involuntarily die if they're doing stupid things' what exactly do they mean by that? Like, I get the underlying sentiment behind that -- that death should be off the table unless the players have a lapse of logic so large as to be fourth-wall b...

Frankly, the new damage codes are so severe that I don't think Body even matters. Their response to the two shot problem of SR4 was to limit everyone to one attack and crank up the damage codes tremendously. An Assault Rifle does 11P at -2 AP before burst fire or ammunition bonuses. If you get hit ...

He did make a pretty cool chargen tool for SR4. Or at least host one. Anyway, his website was useful. Yes, it had knassir's stuff on it. And that stuff was the shit. Aaron did produce one or two useful, interesting, or fun things before he started worked professionally for catalyst. Then the avalan...

Silva please keep your acockalypse world the fuck out of my shadowrun. That's why, if I were to design a new edition of Shadowrun, I'd split the game into three lines: Shadowrun 2035 (technothriller), Shadowrun 2050 (80s cyberpunk) and Shadowrun 2070 (post-cyberpunk). All would share the same basic ...

I'm hard at work on my own comprehensive fanhack of SR4A, Shadowrun Perfect Crime Edition (SRPC). It will be everything SR5 should have been, and utterly failed to be. At least that's the plan. It will be like SR4A but with workable vehicle and matrix rules, and actually balanced magic, as well as s...

This of course loops back around to the fact that Shadowrun combat rounds are way too fucking short. Freezing up for 12 seconds shouldn't be a rare occurrence, but when that allows even an untrained enemy to make 8 distinct attack rolls against you (or four attack rolls while literally boxing you i...

Surprise Rules In Every Edition Of Shadowrun Are Terrible
The Surprise Rules In Every Single Edition Of Shadowrun Are Terrible Please, Please, Help Me Fix Them Some background. I am working on my own edition of Shadowrun. As a free SR4 fanhack, it will address all the major problems of SR4A without "fixing" anything that wasn't broken. In other ...

I think imma take my best crack at it and post what I come up with here. That way the discussion can at least be a bit less abstract and more focused. So far it seems like the big problem most people had with the rules were the damage and specifically crash damage rules. To me, those were just icing...

If I could, I'd like to make a good-faith effort to guide this discussion away from issues of damage and armor resistance (which is all that has been discussed so far) and towards issues of range, maneuvering, speed, tactical vs. strategic vs. cinematic vs. abstracted, tactical vs. chase combat, and...
