Re: Calculating Dice Odds
I use anydice.com for my odds calculator, and they have a lot of functions you can mix and match and customizable graph output.

Re: [Let's Play] Fighting Fantasy 16 - Seas of Blood Redux
Something I noticed when I was turning this book into a text-based game was that it actually omitted the standard rules for using LUCK in battle. Which was a pleasant surprise to not have to code.

Between Might & Magic and Eye of the Beholder was Dungeon Master, of which EOB is often considered a clone. You can see a playthrough of it here for comparison.

Re: [Review]7th Sea & Swashbuckling Adventures
Yes, if you make up that a 6 die fire is 6k6 damage per round (not stated anywhere in the actual rules) and also make up a scale for how many dice a fire of any given size is, then there are rules for fire, that you have made up! As a homebrew subsystem. The having to do of which was my critique.

Re: [Review]7th Sea & Swashbuckling Adventures
The big problem with El Fuego Adentro is that your ability involves control over fire... and the game does not have rules for fire. https://i.imgur.com/Y5WWy6R.png Fuckin' oops! So your magic is a pointer to a 404 error and might do nothing or anything depending on how good the MC is at homebrew sub...

Re: Moments when a piece of entertainment completely rocked you.
I was strongly considering doing a Let's Play thread of the Star Trek Lower Decks Warp Your Own Way CYOA comic, but it's not really a game, just explorable interactive fiction. It is, however, super good . Like the show, the references to previous material can be a bit thick on the ground, but if yo...

Re: Annoying Game Questions You Want Answered
There doesn't seem to be a canonical pronunciation, so whatever you prefer is correct to you. I always pronounced it ZAY-gore in my head. Zagor is an actual word/name that shows up chiefly in central Europe, but most versions have accent marks that the FF version doesn't have. The only unaccented ve...

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
I've placed Norda in the square where she would have the view she was trying for because fudging that in Roll20 is irritating and it makes no difference. Norda's darkvision reveals a room full of trash and broken furniture, with a door on the opposite wall. To the north is some sort of garbage heap....

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
The statue chamber has an open door in the north wall and a closed door in the south. The bodies yield only a handful of copper coins, besides their equipment, crude short spears and slings. The statue itself is plainly ancient, covered in dust and cobwebs, and although its features are crumbling, ...

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
Norda, spirit bolstered by the song of old, hacks the enemy before her in half with a single swing that carries into the next foe, felling that one as well, despite the awkward corner. Norda steps back into the space vacated by Vorbar. The south-positioned reptiloid scampers north across the room, ...

Re: D&D Movie
The official explanation is that Edgin hands out bardic inspiration with his pep talks and uses Subtle Spell to cast spells that don't have obvious effects, which is a plausible enough build for a secret-agent type.

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
Tramping down the stairs, you are met at the entrance to the statue room by an ambush! Reptiloids emerge from either side of the entrance, thrusting with spears at Norda, one of them dealing her a vicious scratch. To the north, Norda sees a door open and a Reptiloid step through, out of the room. h...

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
The statue room shows no signs of anything but the statue and the door in the northeast. Lodin joins the others by the stairs. "Yeah, this is a hunt. I want to go after the fox until something's actually in the way. If we hit a door or something we can't shift, then we can start poking around ...

In the next room is a life-size statue of a reptiloid like the ones you saw outside. It stands in the center of the room, holding out a crude stone sword.

Re: The Biden Administration (No Lago)
So Joe Biden immediately lept out of his chair and sprinted to the nearest camera to give a speech about how the Supreme Court is the way and the light and the truth, the final messenger of god, and that he will personally stab you if you try to expand the court. Meanwhile, in the real world, Biden...

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
The log rests with one end on the ground, and the other end raised above where the chest used to rest, like a cudgel poised to crack a walnut. The suspension is the result of a rope, attached to hooks embedded in the log. This rope runs through several other hooks set in the ceiling, then passes th...

It takes a little time to form and cast a serviceable loop, but the chest is soon retrieved from beneath the menacing timber. Lodin examines it, and finds it unlocked and untrapped. Within is a small trove of coins, mostly silver. "Not worth the carrying further in," says Lodin. He combs ...

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
In the room north off the passage, Grobnar sees a chest with what appears to be a log suspended above it by a rope. Vorbar peers down the steps, which lead down to a room with a statue of a man facing the stairway.

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
Grobnar sees only inky blackness through the northwest door, until Lodin scurries up behind him with the lantern. Its light reveals the further doorway and downward stairs that Norda's darkvision showed her moments before. The eastern door opens onto a chamber strewn with rubbish, and another bedro...

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
There's no indication that the room is more or less than it appears; a long-abandoned bedroom. In the storeroom, Lodin pokes his blade into the envoiced box, perhaps hoping to find some invisible thing. When that produces no result, he joins Grobnar in searching, but all the boxes are apparently as...

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
Norda's darkvision reveals a decrepit bed in a dusty room. Lodin throws open the lid of the box, revealing... nothing within, only the bare wood and nails of its construction. The deep voice speaks again, out of that apparent emptiness: "Oh, well then, never mind." https://i.imgur.com/JDR...
