Btw, even Penny Arcade, who are now WotC fanboys were commenting in a podcast that the skill challenge was so "wonky" that is was better to simply not use it out of combat. Heh. Problem: PCs numbers 1-4 Aid Another on the PC5 roll? Solution: Ban Aid Another. Can people seriously think that...

Human (or Strongheart Halfling if you can) Full BAB Rogue with Tome Feats. Yes. Here are the feats that you take, in order: 1 - Two Weapon Fighting 1 - Weapon Finesse NOTHING ELSE MATTERS Dex > Int > Con Cha/Wis/Str are pretty unneccessary At level one, you are making 2 attacks at DEX+3 (better than...

Words should probably be cast at whatever the highest level spell is, but allow a Will and Fort Save. The effects should be dependent on CR. Also, if you double-up, you should advance to the next category.

Critical mass for me is more than ~30 non-simple changes to the game. A simple change is "no Divine Metamagic" or "gnomes are good at enchantments, rather than illusions". A non-simple change is "the druids animal companion has +2 HD, but -2 to attack", or "Polymor...

We actually had our only Tome vs. Tome fight last seven rounds. Tome Knight vs. Tome Monk 1/Tome Samurai cage match at level 9. Samurai abusing his crits against the Knight Fortification armor, Knight abusing Sword + Board Fighting Style (and stunlock) against Monk 1 Displacer Beast Style (20% miss ...

Your party can cast level 6 spells but can't cough up 16 damage?

Wow.

I stand corrected, as I often seem to do here. I was thinking of the +6 ability of Combat School, and that giving it earlier seems kind of powerful. In that case, as long as we are cloning monks' abilities wholesale, why not just call a spade a spade and grant <Monk Fighting Style or your choice>?

Save or be stunned is too good for a level 1 character to have, frankly. Keep in mind that the stunned condition makes people drop their weapons. It is (more) balanced at level 6. Swap abilities numbers 1 and 6, and add hardness to 6.

Yea, it also gets weird when you get something like Wounding Weapons, or bonus damage per attack (Tome Barbarian, core rogue, anyone that loves energy swords).

However, unless you are getting some reliable source of bonus damage, it pretty much sucks.

Honestly, Cleric Archer keeps looking better and better, and I will probably recommend it to one of the other characters. As long as this is the bitchfest about having characters nerfed: <rant> I wanted to play the Den Ranger here in a campaign with the Tome PBS and Far Shot feats. I was told that: PBS is +1 to hit, +1/3 BAB to damage, only applies within 30 (rather than 1st range increment). Far Shot abilities moved t...

We don't use XP. Instead, we use Con (1 per 250 XP, no change). You can opt not to use your Con, and instead use someone elses (ye olde sacrafice, they get a DC 10 + 1/2 level + mod Fort save). Con must be from a living, intelligent being (orcs count, rats don't). Unconscious/dying people auto-fail ...

ARGH Wizards is moronic

So, Penny arcade created the Wichalok in mockery of many D&D things. http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2009/1/16/ (and after that, rather amusing) Now, Wizards in their infinite wisdom are publishing this as a REAL CLASS. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/drfe/20090401 What's worse is tha...

Failed my spot check for that weapon and armor thing. I thought I even CTRL+F'ed for it, too.

Balance (for cats)
Escape Artist (for foxes?)
Sense Motive (owls)
Tumble (foxes?)

Brgiht Blade needs to <awesome> only when held by a Bright Blade. Others may not use it, ever.

I see no issue with Greater Dispel Magic, wtf was that all about?

Rainbow Fury should deal half damage to everything within 5 (10?) feet, and require no roll.
