Wand of Frost? Wand of Flame Blade? Flasks of anything? You can snag 10 skills, +1d6 SA, and +0 BAB, for what it is worth. Changeling rogue substitution level. http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantcharacterclasses.htm I think you are going for Sneak Attack Fighter, however. Just mix it u...

Sunbeam does untyped damage (but hurts undead/fungi/mold/oozes/slimes/light-sensitives more, no mention of outsiders) BoED light lines are untyped (no mods) Wall of Moonlight is untyped, but does damage only to undead, evil (+...

That may well be true in your experience, but in the past 25 years I have never played in a campaign that lasted more than 5 levels... In the past 10 years I've only had one campaign that DIDN'T last greater than 5 levels, and it was a one-off 3.0 at level 20. Of course, I've only had one campaign ...

Monkey Grip is bad (as noted). Looks like you ought to just spam Devil feats from here on out. Each additional one currently gives you: +1/2 point of NA +2 hp and 1x/day: +2 on a roll Aura of Fear Daze/FF ray Blindsight oh yea, and Great Cleave is stupid. I know the "keep on killing until you s...

Persistent Darkfire

It's probably only good at level 5 or so, but this particularly cleric hack in my upcoming campaign is particularly humorous to me: Level 5-6: Point Blank Shot (Elf Domain) + Rapid Shot + DMM(Persist) + Darkfire Throw Fire twice per round for 2d6 dmg (+1 w/in 30) per hit as a ranged touch attack wit...

Back to the original topic, I was just imagining a tabletop RPG where you get various different armour parts and you could enchant the different sections. Maybe if you wear a chain shirt you get +3 to AC and if you wear chain leggings you get +1, but you could enchant each of them to +5. Works grea...

It isn't just a problem with Gate, but any spell higher than the ones you can normally cast. In a Wish economy, you can literally have ∞ scrolls (as written). As a full caster, you may as well not bother preparing any spells in your spell slots. What use is your 5th level teleport when you...

Heh. I missed the part where Darkfire affected all melee touch attacks and had a duration. Good find! Craft Contingent Spell is probably a good feat for you to look into. It really solves a good deal of problems. A house favorite, of course, is Revenance on death, or the "exta life" spell.

Scrolls in a Wish economy can quickly turn into the "everyone casts a level 9 spell this round" game pretty quick, where class abilities are meaningless and whoever has the most Spellfu to find NoSave/NoSR spells wins the quickdraw.

In fact, that's absolutely the game as intended considering how many sword damaging oozes there are. It seems pretty similar to having to tie an occasional player statue to a mule team to get the gorgon breath off of them back in town. Sorry, have to do this: "Anytown D&Dland, the place wh...

Reduced and passived, yes.

The idea is that you can pretty much cast 1st level spells at will at level 10, and that you don't have to stop exploring a dungeon in order to rest for 8 hours. You can have switch-off teams of people scanning/disarming/being hit by traps.

Just a thought.

As far as limiting the '15 minute workday', you could always do what any good MMO does: recharge times For D&D, just give everyone an hp bar and mana bar. Mana bar total = all spells of various slots summed up. Mana regeneration rate = HP regeneration rate = (+10% max)/10 minutes. Yay, after an ...

See, I disagree Frank. I personally enjoy seeing mechanical benefits from RP action, as long as it is done fairly. In our old 2e campaign (crucify me now), we had to go to town and "level up" every once in a while. The druid would find his rival and beat him, the wizard needed to go to wiz...

In a non-magic equipment game sunder is cool and neat. Also, as has pointed out (and is obvious is you play with Book of Gears rules), the same is true of a game where everything is magic. When players carry around a +3 Flame Sword and a +3 Lightning Sword (that cost somewhere around 2-3K each), th...

Wind Walk is out (too high level). Plane Shift to Ethereal is probably a decent way to get your Scry on, but dropping back is... difficult (5-500 miles :( ). You need to get your wizard 2 spells. Doing this is critical. I don't care if he prepares them into his slots from scrolls all fucking day, he needs these 2 spells. If he has any metamagic, he uses that. 1 - Nerveskitter. 2 - Glitterdust. Seriously, I have blown through a very similar encounter from...

The randomness is good, to an extent. However, you also can't let it kill players.

Everyone appears to be having difficulty grasping PLs idea (self included?), but my interpretation was:
You rolled a 20 - activated a [daily] power on one enemy now.

You could always do what we did in 2e... Wait for it... Crit Tables! No, really, I'm serious. For the most part in 2e, the crit tables represented a status effect. You hit them so hard that they were dazed for the next round, or fell down, or took a penalty on future hits for a while. Although, when...
