Returning to Fate, I recently picked up the Atomic Robo RPG (powered by Fate Core) from a Bundle of Holding, and I must say that it's probably the best adaptation of Fate Core I've seen. The game still uses the exact same rules as Fate Core with a few minor twists, but the presentation is excellent....

The latest edition eschews skills for fluff regarding how you resolve contested rolls. Not quite. There are basically two games now that are both Fate. The systems behind them are exactly the same, so you can pretty easily combine parts of them together. One of them is Fate Accelerated Edition (oft...

While Fafnir considers rat-slaying beneath a great warrior like himself, he also understands that the predicament they have been placed in by Therion's actions demands that he compromise his lust for glory for now. "So it seems that your city has a rodent problem. What say you we help you deal ...

"Psioni-what?" Fafnir says with a look of exasperation on his face. He digs into his memory for any sagas or poems of his people that may have related to dwarves with the ability to cloud their enemies' senses.

Fafnir resurfaces, at first gasping for air, but then shortly bursts into a hearty laugh as he climbs onto the docks. "What a glorious day! Sparrow, my friend! You had me worried for your safety for a while, but you handled yourself well in battle," he says, slapping his friend on his back...

A second question: If we get XP for making moves that are inline with our Alignment, does that mean I'd mark XP for each of the not-Dwarfs I killed? (Evil: Harm another to prove the superiority of your Church or God) You only mark 1 XP at the end of session if you fulfilled your alignment at least ...

Man, I only failed once during the entire session, and I didn't really teach anyone the ways of my people. That plus the three questions and my Outsider move give me a whooping total of four experience. I should probably try to Spout Lore more next time. ;) That said, looking at my bonds, I feel my ...

We also get to answer these questions as a group and get 1 XP for each 'Yes.' • Did we learn something new and important about the world? • Did we overcome a notable monster or enemy? • Did we loot a memorable treasure? I'm torn on the first. Is the fact that not-dwarves are smuggling in magical rat...

Okay. Why was Fafnir taken alive if the rest of his family was killed? Fafnir was not killed because he wasn't considered a worthy enough kill: while his brothers and father were slain in battle, after Fafnir took a blow to the head and was knocked unconscious, nobody really wanted to step up and c...

Yeah, I agree. Also, apologies for having fallen off the grid. I've been really busy these past few weeks and I'd near-completely forgotten about my Internet life.

Also, you could totally ask Fafnir a question now.

Fafnir is really getting tired of the two not-dwarves' shit. Deciding to take advantage of the fact that the other not-dwarf is busy trying to open the rat cages, Fafnir decides to make a decisive amphibious assault on the other dwarf. Truly, this day shall be remembered by all as the day when one f...

Fafnir resurfaces, spitting salt water and cursing loudly. The last place he wanted to be was caught in the water with the two not-dwarves on higher ground over him. He then remembers the addled Cleric he left behind, lying in the rowboat. "Therion!" he screams at the top of his lungs. &qu...

In defiance of the danger posed by the not-dwarves and their knives, Fafnir climbs on to the dock, trying his best to dodge the oncoming stabs. (2d6=3) Only to take both of their knives in his gut in the process.

Seeing an opportunity for even more glory in slaying the not-dwarfs manipulating his companions' senses, Fafnir quickly straps his axe to his back and in one smooth motion jumps into the icy cold water and heads for the not-dwarfs' boat, while trying to stave off the coldness of the water by endurin...

Fafnir sees a moment of lucidity in his companion's eyes, after which he sees Sparrow hit the water again and try to grasp for something that is clearly not there. He also considers the priest, lying prostate on the boat and mumbling to himself. "Something's not right. We are being played for f...

I can't believe my luck. My experience running Dungeon World shows that most of the time players will be constantly rolling snake-eyes and failing in hilarious ways, only to pick up the slack later. I seem to be doing the completely opposite. Sucks as far as XP generation goes though. Also, Foxwarri...

As Fafnir struggles to regain his balance following Therion slamming stomach-first into the boat, he looks at Sparrow and begins to wonder what is going on in his friend's head. Having never seen Sparrow give him that look, he assumes that it is the look of a man possessed, but Fafnir doesn't know b...

Nah, I think it's been fun. It's be similarly difficult in a tabletop setting, unless you were somehow able to control what each player hears around the table. I agree, it's been fun, and I can't believe it took me this long to realize what the Not-Dwarfs are. Speaking of hallucinations, what does F...

The way I'm reading the situation, the boat is sinking pretty quickly. Is the rowboat close enough for Fafnir to just hop on it, or will he have to Defy Danger by being quick on his feet to get to it? (The danger, of course, being the icy cold water.)

Fafnir looks at the eagle who has just slain the devil in front of him and turned into a tiger, visibly confused. He then realizes that not only is he on a sinking ship, but that there's a tiger opposite to him. "Sparrow! Therion! I think it's time we make our way ashore!" he shouts, as he...
