Re: 5th Edition Is A Mess

Oh, so "being on fire" is no longer what we're talking about, because the things that catch you on fire lend their keywords to your own personal conflagration. Now you're "on magical fire" or "on alchemical fire" or "on normal fire"? If you catch fire because...

Okay, but did writing three paragraphs of deductive logic and speculation in order to theorize what the rules-as-intended might be not depress you, just a little bit? And how would you feel if someone got set on fire in-game, and then you had to break from play to fruitlessly check the rules and ha...

Re: 5th Edition Is A Mess

I think that there's no reason at all to think that Alchemist's Fire causes generic fire damage any more than the 1d10 from a Fire Elemental (which you quoted). Don't see why one is any more appropriate to sitting in a fireplace than the other. Well the Fire Elemental's ability is incontrovertibly ...

Re: 5th Edition Is A Mess

Finding rules in 5th edition is, as mentioned earlier, very difficult. We set a dude on fire and several people ran through the indices and flipped through the PHB and the DMG and we simply could not find the rules for being on fire. We eventually just used the 3rd edition rules of taking 1d6 per r...

So anyway, the real moral of the story is that the players who wanted to play the Dwarven Cleric and the Halfling Rogue had a much easier time getting their point across than the guy who wanted to play the Dragonborn Paladin. Not because there is anything unclear or worse about the Dragonborn Palad...

While the size and scope of the new game make a full public playtest infeasible, we'll be starting to bring in key community members to check it out in the next few months The fun thing is it doesn't even make sense if you interpret it in a friendly way. There's too much material for the work of qu...

Assuming you mean to build a new skill system and die roll mechanic and...? If you have to rebuild the entire game from mechanics to fluff to make it playable, doesn't seem like such a big deal to take the part you like and drop into a workable system. Just put the names you like in AS or Pathfinde...

Discounts aren't a great way to balance things. If there is an option to not take advantage of discounts then those characters are weaker for no reason. Better would be giving a bonus free discipline that everyone in a clan gets. Wouldn't that mean that some clans still "win the lottery?"...

[...] Dust devil was always seen as a bad card. You're not wrong. My argument is that Blizzard went so far overboard in making a second, more viable version of Dust Devil that they created a (robotic) monster. The old logic for Windfury is that it should cost 1-2 mana. There is literally a spell ca...

You could argue that most of the DnD classes exist (to some extent) in the LOZ franchise. Thus I think it is more productive to list classes which have scant or no representation in the games. The list I came up with is: Cavalier, Cleric, Gunslinger, Inquisitor, Paladin, and Summoner.

The examples in Power Profiles don't make any changes to the rules. There is a typo in that description, though. It should be "skill in wielding itself equal to 2 times the Power Level minus the weapon's effect rank". Here are the modifiers for that power, in case you don't have the pdf. ...
