Because that is basically somewhere between Tome Skill Feats and 3.5's Skill Trick system.

So, 5E went from vaporware to business fraud. I had not heard that term before. Looks like WOTC and Hasbro got "tunneled" by Mearls somehow. He helps people get swag and he knows where the bodies are buried so he can never get fired, even after repeatedly failing to live up to promises and...

More like "dead" 2016 and merely "buried" well, probably still even earlier, 2018 by my entirely baseless speculative prediction.
Wow, and I thought I was being the doomsayer.

Before we see 5.5, we'll see a return to the PHB 1, 2, 3 treadmill with the Classplosion that Frank has been saying is necessary. It's an easy thing to change without trying to get folks to buy an entirely new core set. That might push your timeline out to 36-48 months Insomniac. I'd say that, but ...

Frank is rigtt in that HERO kind of has things that are like power caps or gentleman's agreements. Things like, no more than 60 points in a combat power, putting hard caps on damage dice with 12d6 being a typical limit. Nobody can have an OCV or DCV above X and caps on Speed are also common. Point B...

Also, I'm probably coming at it from a really gamey standpoint where a Cleric would go, "Holy fuckballs! I'm Level 13 in good prestige classes! Time to become the Mayor of my setting's New York City and then have my eyes on the presidency." The Cleric would be more likely to go, "Wow,...

I think the name for the next addition will be Dungeons and Dragons Future. They'll announce "The Future is...NOW!" around February 2020.

It will largely be a retreat to 3.5

This is a dead edition to me already. Nothing they are planning on putting out within the year is grabbing me at all. I want to call the official "Oh fuck, we gotta do something!" 5.5/Essentials Hail Mary within the next 24 months. The game on the whole will be dead before the end of 2019....

I think the problem with full casters is they start doing things that generate infinite money and power on tap for a substantial amount of the game (last 5 levels or so) that obviates the need for adventuring. Like, I understand why an 11th party of a Bard, Ranger, Barbarian, and a Paladin adventure...

Do you think it is time to do away with class racial abilities to scores and do something more holistic like, pick a physical and a mental, pick 2 physical, pick 2 mental, etc? 4E had an early start with few classes and the class combos that were viable became largely racially dependent, or at least...

Oh right. Because Barbarian takes 2 or 3 pages in 3.5, at the most, even about the same in Pathfinder with Rage powers, but it would take like 20 in 4E.

I thought 4E was going to work out for them but it just had too many holes that I am learning about now.

How much better of a position would 4E have been if it just started with a few more things? Like, Aasimar, Gnomes, Goblins and Half-Orcs as playable races and Barbarians, Bards, Druids, Monks and Sorcerers in the core. That's just 9 things. But how much of a better position would it have been in? Wo...

I'm telling you, Paizo's getting froggy with that Advanced Class Guide and then the Pathfinder version of Unearthed Arcana. I'm thinking those are monetized playtests for Pathfinder 2.0 in the way that Magic of Incarnum, Tome of Magic and Tome of Battle were monetized 4E development material and con...

It isn't intended to be official errata, its just some dickhead's opinion on a messageboard spouting off on how you should make house rules for a set of 3.5 house rules. Some of the rulings are hysterically bad, and most of them involve martial feats and classes that the develops hate, like Fighters...

Cool chargen and it shows some gaps in the game so far. There is no military leader or noble leader like a 3.5 Marshal or 4E Warlord apart from Bards with College of Valor. There is no class that is a non-magical mounted combatant, like a worg/dire wolf outrider or a knight/cavalier. There is nothin...

So, are there any books in the pipeline? Has anything come out since the core books and the Rise of Tiamat? Not really. They have the 3 core books and 2 shorter adventure path books. The problem is pointed out very well here. With the increasing love and consistent splat support for Sorcerers, I think they in the Pathfinder Big Leagues now. The game has also introduced Arcanists, Oracles and Witches who are kind of playing the big leagues, now, too. They might not be the Red Sox...

You can also take the merciful curse as an oracle to gain lay on hands. If there's a way to pick up smiting (and I expect there's a feat that does it) then you're all the way there. I think that there is a way to get this and that variety of an Oracle is called an "Oradin." It originally ...

Summoner isn't even as broken as core classes but it gets so much hate simply because it makes martial combatants that don't cast spells look bad and its like, no shit. Pathfinder is 3.5 Houserules and a Summoner is a d8, 3/4 BAB full caster in disguise with a Druid's Animal Companion. I wonder what...

Long story short, the game is same as it ever was in 3.5, really. Casters are still the Gods of the Game, even stronger in Pathfinder, really and if you're playing something that can't cast spells, what is wrong with you? Do you have brain cancer or something? You can get a bonus spell every level a...

I think Black merging with Green kind of makes them a little "better," you know? The Golgari Swarm are the garbage collection and recyclers of the setting, the scrappy underdogs. It seems like they are Neutral Evil trending ever so slightly to Good. Blue/Black is neutral evil, Black/Red is...
