Cool chargen and it shows some gaps in the game so far. There is no military leader or noble leader like a 3.5 Marshal or 4E Warlord apart from Bards with College of Valor. There is no class that is a non-magical mounted combatant, like a worg/dire wolf outrider or a knight/cavalier. There is nothi...

Tenra Bansho Zero has a number of conceits I like: 1. The hearts of Oni can be used to power large machines like giant robots. Considering Oni here are sexy noble savages and not the cannibalistic giants of traditional lore, this can lead to some interesting drama when the miko go hunting for them. ...

When a fighter casts Flight by pulling on his bootstrap, it changes the world itself; why is Joe Dirtfarmer working a job with a daily income in GP you can could on one hand, when all these cool powers were inside him all along? When a spell comes from the sort of Dying Earth laboratory that only th...

Maybe some sort of Foil Ability stunt that lets them Captain Hobo up some mobility on a case-by-case basis. So, like Raiden jumping from rocket to rocket to attack mecha and fliers, Cutman might jump along a jotun's flurry of boulders to decapitate them. Part of the reason you might bank damage coul...

Maybe instead, you can just ignore a certain amount of AC by going Blade Mode on stuff, letting you hit iron golems and the like, letting you Power Attack for more against stuff without that level of defense, and maybe another ability that lets you Zandatsu the vital organs out of puzzle monsters an...

Make the welfare artifact a big toy hammer that causes hearts to fly out instead of blood, and change people's alignment to Good instead of killing them when it scores the final blow. Sort of like how games like Ninja Gaiden Black discourage you from playing on Easy while still providing the option.

Are there good examples in the books of SLAs that require skill levels to use? So like, at higher levels, Hanzo Hattori leverages his stealth and skulduggery abilities into turning into a cloud of sentient, free-roaming vapor? While Axel Foley might get so good at disguising himself that he, given s...

Often enough, the protagonist picking up whatever's at hand and using it with the utmost proficiency IS what Rule of Cool supports. Riddick killing with a teacup, Conan using whatever the situation calls for, or Caesar Zeppeli clowning on fools with soap bubbles . Weapon Virtuoso tends to be a more ...

What a phone would do better than dice for me is simulating things. Like, you draw a castle on it and it calculates the cost and construction time. Or, you have a Star Trek ship and the PCs are working various duty stations, and from there it can procedurally generate ship events that happen when yo...

I'd like to get the attention of someone as vain as Shitmuffin, but not as exhausting to engage with. I know there are plenty of assholes on the Internet who could use a good verbal flogging. Too many know this place by reputation, sadly, like the guys on Something Awful who accuse you of worshiping...

In the Hunter game I'm playing right now, I think Willpower has just ended up being refreshed per-session, like fate points in WFRP/Dark Heresy/FATE/etc, since the GM would rather let us Old Man Henderson all over everything than actually read our sheets and care whether we were playing to virtue/vi...

I think there is a good-intentioned reason for wanting to be in control over the distribution of magic items as a GM. The road to hell... Right. For the sake of, as you've put it, the viking hat DMs, I'd put the magic items in the PHB, given the choice. That, or I'd strike some sort of balance. Eno...
