I'd rather have some powers still be erratic/unskilled. I suppose it doesn't matter too much how many or which ones, as long as it makes sense.

It's important to note that this focuses the game on the powers - if you don't want that, have them be either there or not.

How does any of that mitigate overwhelming opposition? And if it doesn't, why did you bring it up as an example of something mitigating overwhelming opposition?

No it isn't you piece of shit, learn to read. If a 15 year old has sex with his 10 year old or 13 year old sister that is not fucking covered by child molestation laws. It is not. Your other point is valid but you need to stop claiming this because it's not true. In Virginia, for instance, a 15 yea...

If it's not possible to decrease the threat level of enemies with perception checks, then, given such opposition, how is it useful to "force the GM to define it more through recon or Read a Sitch moves"? It seems like at that point you'd just be asking for the enemies to have more reinforc...

Besides that, the group can force the GM to define it more through recon or Read a Sitch moves, like in the book example. And even then, part of the threat will be open to the GM improv/creation. Its like that in any game (see point above). Now, I've not read the rulebook, but when you say this as ...

Well, there WAS that measles outbreak that started in a megachurch whose pastor was dead set against vaccination. That shit's still out there, and vaccinations are still used for a reason. If they try to bring up autism, well, let's just say it's very offensive to me to hear someone effectively say...

You're missing the other problem with Eve: Everyone accumulates experience at the same rate. No seriously. To learn a new skill you click on it. And then go away. When a real-world timer counts down, you get the skill. Which literally means that even if you play the game 24/7, you will forever be p...

So my mother has some... grievances... with the medical industry and has managed to apply that to medicine as a whole, preferring alternative medicine. I fortunately didn't have any major medical issues as a child, so I'm okay, and as an adult I've been moving from "yeah, fuck medicine" to...

I suppose that has a "downside" that some number of "genuine" sibling romances get the axe, but that's pretty negligible. It ends up being a lot like the downside to statutory rape laws where they also prevent the occasional 16-year-old who is actually somehow emotionally able t...

I've played Mage games that had that sort of "master of the art" thing going but allowed for multiple players through the different 'styles' doing different things - one character can work at attaining perfection through the internal alchemy that is reflected by her expertise in the world ...

I've honestly never looked at it in much depth because it is definitely not my thing, but GURPS Martial Arts lays out a ton of detail on various styles and the components thereof to an impressive amount of detail, including breaking it up into what claims are realistic and which are claimed but not ...

Oh. And you can only roll on them after the numbers have been distributed?

I still don't see why you wouldn't roll on your off-stats anyway, but it does make it a bit less predetermined.

1-2: -1, 3: 0, 4-5: +1, 6: +2 This comes out to +1/3 on average and has a max of +2, so why would you ever do anything but allocate your +3, +2s, and probably +1s, and then roll for everything else? Even if you were being super cautious, why would you ever just take the two -1s instead of rolling f...

Funny thing, a person's emotional reaction to incest depends on if they were raised with siblings or not. Only children usually don't have that same negative emotional reaction to the idea. As someone who has never had a sibling in the half+seven age-range, I don't find the idea even slightly skeez...

That being said, whether any particular group are nominally mushrooms or not is completely immaterial to any discussion of how bad they are. The Orks in particular are actually one of the most reasonable factions in the setting, and you can in fact make peace with them and conduct mutually benefici...

Well, that spell is prefaced by 'if she lives in a dangerous area.' Also worth noting that non-primes don't automatically get access to all kinds of magic; they basically all have magic of some sort. And they actually do tend to favor mass attack in the way that the primes don't, so 'small town bes...

Thanks for doing this. It's fascinating. The example carpenter has four carpentry-related spells, a plant-based attack spell to take advantage of her strong plant magic , a painkiller spell, a dish-cleaning spell, and a contraceptive spell. Is this common? That is, are even noncombatant members of c...

The extremely crazy game World Tree (which I really should review at some point) is an all-spellcaster world, where everyone has at least some spell points and the vast majority of people know at least a few spells. Although, most people are sensibly practical individuals and learn such spells as '...
