I think we could also read the hypnotic book that killed Amelia

Re: [Let's Play] Legendary Kingdoms: The Valley of Bones
If we return to the upper tunnels there's (presumably) also the opportunity to read the book that obsessed the orc who killed Amelia. I think it's an obvious trap, but maybe it has fun spells.

Oh, yeah, I think Uranu before poisoning makes sense. There's akihiro content there!

Re: [Let's Play] Legendary Kingdoms: The Valley of Bones
I'm in favor of bending rules for extra content, but I'm happy to drop my vote for now in order to break the tire. Let's deliver that dragon head and swing back here sometime.

I still vote for getting the akihiro content from the cave of Uranu while we're close.

There was a prompt for akihiro in some nearby hill caves. If like to see him go there. Temple after the failure at the cave.

Thanks! Second question: what's with the demon mask on the mercenary that killed or father, should I recognize it? And what happens if we kill him first?

Re: [Let's Play] Fighting Fantasy 47 – The Crimson Tide
Thanks for running this, I thought this one had an unusually fun hook, and I enjoyed following along. What do the endings look like if we don't use the secret approach? And where can we pick up magic? (Though that keyword probably dooms us)

A new UA for 1D&D has dropped https://media.dndbeyond.com/compendium-images/one-dnd/expert-classes/kpx0MvyfBGHe0XKk/UA2022-Expert-Classes.pdf My first impressions of this are good. They've cleaned up a bunch of feats and gated some of them to higher levels. Bardic inspiration as a reaction is an...

Thanks for this review, Libertad! This is clearly the work of devoted madmen, so I'm pleasantly surprised by the depth of historical context dedicated to the factions and the region. Also by the functional sandbox. Still, I can't imagine a group of pcs that would want to play act the crucifixion.

Re: 6th edition / One D&D
Assessing tremorsense requires and exigesis of the vision, obscurement and hiding rules, which are a bit baroque. The upshot of the derivation below is that tremorsense is great against monsters that hide, goblins being the prime candidates. It's flavorful for dwarves without being a game changer, s...

Re: 6th edition / One D&D
Feat power levels are all over the place in 5e, and I don't particularly trust the devs to do better in 1D&D. Savage attacker is a particularly bad feat in the current edition. It is identical in 1D&D, so it's not clear that they're waving the balance wand at the right things. However, this ...

Re: 6th edition / One D&D
Eh, I don't know. This seems like a modest improvement on the 5e that was with a few boneheaded ideas mixed. You do have to want to play 5e for this to be interesting at all, but I've found that it's a good system to teach and to plan for if you have limited time. Good thing 1: less racism -- They'v...

Eh, we just had a Strider in the weird cyberpunk dystopia playthrough. I find Walker Texas to be the most amusing, and cast my vote there.

I presume that a beleaguered editor added the, "please not about sub races within humans" under bullet 3. The editor was obviously roundly ignored.

Re: The DnD movie trailer: Yay? Nay? Banana?
The highlight is seeing dnd ip coming to life on the big screen -- both the owl bear and the mimic are fun -- but the CGI house isn't good enough for that to sell the movie in its own. Further, there is no bold visual direction, the script seems deeply tired, and the villain looks thin. But Chris pi...

Re: How to Implement Save or Dies in a Balanced D&D System
Phoenix Guard, an otherwise inconsequential indie game, has you come back stronger after you die because of "something something phoenix", which I thought was a fun conceit. You still have a fixed number of lives (7 total), but each death gives your character a perk when you come blazing b...
