Re: star wars - firearms

-1 to hit is really nothing maybe -1d for 3 shots and -2or3d for burst.[br][br]on a related note I'm also looking to run a WEG starwars soon but I felt the attributes and skills need a bit of a redistribution to prevent anyone but a pilot maxing strength, dex and perception as they are the only attr...

What we want our characters to do.

So reading Franks book of gear exerpt I was thinking; if leveling in the D&D fashion is silly and most heroes are really only 1-10 what I really want is to have characters stay more or less static in stats but to pick up new tricks along the way that give them new cool ways of killing stuff with...

Re: The sudden interest in psionics

The staged abilities that increase with levels is good idea except you have to buy it again each time. I think it could work well like the spell thingys in Wheel of time RPG where you have to pay a higher slot to get a more effective result. [br]Spells should be the same way. You have the throw fire...

Re: Pimp my cleric!!!

Well I'm trying to avoid the who wish economy nonsense because I think that is too much BS for me to handle and I will just get bitchslapped by the DM for trying it. I'd like to make all the other players wish they were clerics in combat (which considering most are playing their first game shouldn't...

Pimp my cleric!!!

Hey y'all. My laptop with all my d&d books and characters is fried and I got to throw together a cleric for an FR game to replace my beguiler that I lost on the machine (and we need a cleric so I'm stepping up). I've been talking to my DM about the kind of stomp scale discussed here and he said ...

Re: Things that are NOT FUN

Split Party. Sometimes it's cool, sometimes it's necessary for plot, but when you're spending 45 minutes looking at other people do stuff while you twiddle your fingers, it gets annoying VERY fast. [br]When I was playing mage we would be split off sometimes for an hour or more. We always made sure ...

Re: Star Wars: Saga Edition

Oh, and skills are STUPID. especially the ones that match up against peoples defence scores. Invest a class skill and a feat and have an extra +10 at level one, which makes you powerful!, until you still have the same extra +10 by level 20 when you feel weak...[br] [br]Not that I've seen the book b...

I live in Asia and this whole honour thing is not a good way to live your life. All it is really for is measuring your ability to conform to the social framework and flourish. Its just lawful wrapped up in a different package really.[br][br]Really if you want to do away with good and evil create a s...

Re: Tome of Extremes?

You're confusing honour with good/evil. Poison gets a bad rap because its a great tool for peasants to kill the nobles with. So they make up crud saying its a coward's weapon. [br][br]I personally think killing people is killing people and so poison is no more evil than any other method of killing ...

Re: Tome of Extremes?

(The notion that poison is evil is just plain crap btw.) [br][br]Well as much as I'm not keen on the rules that poison is evil, it seems to me that using it against people has pretty much unversally been considered bad. Its the weapon of choice for usurpers and assasins, its secretive and cowardly....

Re: Soldier Problem, Part 3

But the point is by giving them challenges to keep it you're making them earn it. Its simple you don't want them to have it; don't make it available. You're ok with them having it, let them have it at whatever cost you deem necessary to keep it without strings. But you can't put it out there for the...

Re: Soldier Problem, Part 3

Well why is there a big bag of money waiting for them to take it if you didn't mean to give them the option to take it. You can't railroad characters by giving them something and then requiring them to spend xp to keep it. You CAN railroad them by making it nearly essential that they spend it on oth...

Re: Tome of Extremes?

Do you maybe add a new mechanic where you have points for exalted and vile behavior and you level in your exaltedness and vileness based on deeds? This would could be prone to abuse but if you are supposed to be getting rewarded with power for your upstanding or rotteness should you not in fact have...

Re: Feat based skill progression

On the general what do people think of the set skill progression idea as a whole. It seems to me that it would simplify. But does having every character in essence have all skills unbalance things. That any 6th level character would have the same chances of picking a lock as 1st level rogue be a pro...

Re: Feat based skill progression

[br]So, essentially, you like the Saga thing where all the skills are level scaling, but instead of having the bonuses be +5 and +10 from the getgo, you want them to scale. Instead of having a somewhat random chart, I suggest that you simply say that skill training gives a +3 bonus (increases to +4...

Re: De munchkining the game

1180497024[/unixtime]] A level 10 party should just blow off guards. A large point of being at that level is that you HAVE that power. Re: Star Wars: Saga Edition

Well saves are basically reverse AC anyways. Instead of mages rolling to hit you get to roll to defend. I just get casters to roll a d20 add the lvl and ability bonus and apply it to save + 10 against monsters anyway, saves on me rolling for loads of them and they get to roll instead. Less dice the ...

De munchkining the game

I'm newly registered on the board but have been reading entirely too many of the threads recently after stumbling across Frank & K's SRD in my ongoing attempt to find an easier way to do magic that doesn't involve stupid memorization or picking from ridiculously long spell lists of mostly damage...
