But you're really going to claim that it's fundamentally impossible to build a set of rules that help you effectively and reasonably adjudicate such a system? It is logically impossible to make a set of rules to allow you to effectively adjudicate or describe a system of magic that cannot be adjudi...

Frank: well, shit. MtA is one of my favorite games ever--despite it being totally fucking broken. I admit that maybe it's not for everyone, and as a fucking professional working scientist the hippie-bullshit bothers me, but for some reason I really love the basic premises: 1. Matrix, but no real wor...

Thanks for the spell suggestions. I've put together a decent combat mage for the new campaign I'm joining...however, I need one more piece of advice: 'ware. I've been told that since magic is limited to sight, good cybereyes are worth the essence loss; once I cut any essence at all, I should go ahea...

In short, go for an Intuition tradition (Voodoo or Psion) and pick up the spells Knockout (general fighting) and Shatter (physical dmg). Pick a mentor spirit that will give you arbitrary bonuses to the shtick you want. Make sure to grab Frank's Utility Spells (TM), so between them and your spirit y...

Re: Exalted 1e : Anything I should keep an eye out for?
Well, I'd recommend getting 2nd edition. It's Just Better, and the corebook is all you *really* need and not very expensive.[br][br]I agree about Ride Charms: really, though, their problem is the same thing with anything that lets you move really fast--the party moves at the speed of the slowest guy...

Re: 4E: what can we expect from SAGA and Bo9S?
Different weapons being good at different things is the win.[br]Different classes being able to use small subsets of weapon types is the lose.[br][br]Seriously, I had a flashback--the bad Vietnam kind--to WoW. "I won't use that cool mace we just got, because I'm a Ranger. Rangers can't use mace...

Re: 4E: what can we expect from SAGA and Bo9S?
Bo9S is kind of a mixed bag. I do hope they ditch fucking stupid per day balancing, and go to per encounter (or rough equivalents). That part of Bo9S was sweet.[br][br]Frankly, I think the best magic system would be along the lines of SR--no limits on casting per day or week or 4.5 hour period, you ...

Seriously? In a Star Wars game, Jedi just might be cooler than all of you put together? Stop the fucking presses.
It may not be good game design, but that is kind of the theme of the source material.

What's the point of the ridiculously low SR? How will that make a difference against level-appropriate enemies?

Re: Running Frank's and K's Tomes
Frank, would you disagree with buffing the Sorcerer a bit so people who, like K, want the simplicity, don't have to penalize themselves for doing so?
Say, pushing Spells per Day up a level (so they actually get 2nd level spells at level 3 and the like?)

I admit I'm not exactly familiar with the game or system but...how is growing a lawn on someone instantly lethal?
Hell, the scientist in me is intruiged a bit--I seem to remember some interesting stories about people having things growing on them and living (at least for a while.)

I thought I'd chime in here--it looks like I'm hopefully (crosses fingers) going to get to play in an SR4 campaign this summer. This is the character I submitted, which the GM likes (flavor omitted for convenience--short version: ares corporate hotshot dropped in the shadows for unknown reasons havi...

D&D mixed with Exalted
So, this summer, I'm doign some prepwork for a campaign I think I want to run next semester @ school.[br][br]My current thought is running a very traditional D&D-type setting (in line with Frank & K's material, complete with the Wish economy, etc.) grafted onto the Exalted crunch.[br][br]......
