Out of curiosity, what would you folks think of someone who brought a character to the table who was a through-and-through racist specifically so that character could view certain groups as 'not people' and avoid this any sort of alignment-based moral dilemma?

So you're really only going the enlarge route if you 1) have a thing for reds/golds or 2) have a thing for draconic milfs?

Don't forget your maxed Use Rope skill, in case she turns out to be a kinky one. I feel a little bad for actually checking on the size stats for this, but eh. Enlarge Person will bring a medium-size person to Large, which is the same size category as a young adult for all but reds and golds, which a...

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. As well as, what the devil does any brand of punchy-facey have to do with bondage? That seems very off to me.

Yeah, probably better to watch them first. That whole 'trust not the trusted' bit might apply here, though it seems a bit early.

Classes, levels, and relatively equivalent combat capability

At one point I was trying to put together a homebrew for absolute fast-play with people who were new to roleplaying as a whole. Something absolutely simplistic, because I'm not going to ask total newbs to dumpster-dive through all the pathfinder abyss or work with thac0 or steps tables or all that. ...

Hmm. Zelda mentions a metal-worker and an iron man. The pallywags we had a good chat with could be the iron man, and I guess it's not totally unreasonable to think a tinker or blacksmith might be hanging out at the inn. Or we could get a lead to this 'liche queen'. Could be worth it to explore, I'll...

Perhaps you saw http://www.gnomestew.com/gming-advice/an-apology-to-some-min-maxers/ already and just didn't think it was that interesting. My apologies, if so, for reposting. It's a bit dated, but the sentiments involved don't age badly. As my understanding of game mechanics has begun to grow, I ca...

For D&D gaming? If I can find a god who sounds pretty brutal and awesome and who the DM says will smile upon or even let me get away with the kind of insanity I tend to favor, then I prefer to play a Cleric. There are more powerful options, there are more flexible options, but for me there's jus...

Let me assure you that you and your friends are not, in fact, anywhere near the limits of human capability with a spear or staff, nevermind the fact that there is in fact more to an RPG than just whacking another dude with a pointy stick even if your character's capabilities are not at all superhum...

I don't get why I'd play an escapist action-oriented RPG without magic, I'll be honest. Right up until the stuff that's explicitly superhuman, which you can call whatever you want whether that be 'wizard bullshit', 'tinker bullshit', 'adept bullshit', whatever flavor of superhuman you like, then you...

Sorry for slow/nonexistent replies! Broheim finally got back from his vacation so I'm done with 60-hour workweeks for awhile at least. Z-lord, you're probably right about the timeframe. Especially when one considers that my descriptions of significant kills trail into gore-porn. Also that's a good p...

Legends of Wulin. I was like "Ohmygod this is so damn cool!" I love the setting it lays out, love how the themes of the setting fit a wuxia movie, love it. Then I looked at the mechanics and I was like "What the fuck is this shit!" I cannot into a system that turns every roll int...

Huh, I'd forgotten about this. Cool stuff. A good reminder that you have to have some vision about how the game's supposed to actually play out on the table before you try to import anything more overarching, because in the end it's supposed to be a game and it has to be actually playable.

Okay so I've been thinking about a homebrew setting and trying to build a super-simple system built around the principles of fast-paced play (and mechanics to support this) as well as significant player agency (which is kinda hard to support mechanically). The whole idea is for something I can play ...
