No, they don't - D&D is not set up so that an ogre is meant to be one of the toughest things in the game for even mighty heroes. Low level nonmagic or not - ogres vs. reasonably competent soldiers (plural intended) are not overwhelming. Either your setting is centered around level 1, or ogres a...

You certainly misunderstood something about SAME, because it doesn't even have classes in the main implementation. You might be taking "TNE" and "SAME" as the same (and yeah, they're currently using the same setting, but not rules), but even TNE is expected to have "classes&...

Rules Compendium 145 says what I'd have ruled: use the rules for "failing to maintain speed for the round" for the appropriate maneuverability - generally means losing altitude (and maybe crashing). And now I can hijack the thread. :P Does anyone know which rules were stealth-changed by th...

Now that we have demonstrated why lower powered fighters don't work in D&D, why can't we make a game actually designed around those as the normal power level so that Conan and the like -are- the badasses of the setting instead of the phlebdriven? They do work in D&D - just get used to makin...

A) the feats as-are mean you kill everyone, always.

B) GURPS (and yes, 4E > 3E) fulfills at least most of your demands - it's not "one system for all games", but it's what I'd recommend to anyone wanting things to be detailed and realistically-scaled.

We can't (or rather, don't need to) do it in 3.5. It's definitely possible - just have the setting not go beyond low-mid levels. And even "don't need" is pretty questionable: unless there's ... something ... that prevents the sources listed from being represented in some official/Tome D&a...

And if you are actually reading what kind of fighters I am suggesting we try to represent, we are not trying to represent them in a world where they need to keep up with D&D style mages. Define scope. See prior post if needed. C'mon, it's not like I'm asking you to figure out calculus here. Or ...

If you have something to actually contribute, I'd like to see it. If you're just going to be rude and insulting, I'm going to have to ask why you don't actually do something useful instead of demonstrating that you're a jerk. Again. First off, define a fvcking scope. It could be: - abstract talk; - D&D 3.x; - D&D 4E; - Artorius; - TNE; - some other specific system. Abstract talk: probably the entire discussion could be best solved by then just pointing to any of a number of systems that more or less deliver. 3.x: addres...

Tho asking 'where is x' on the metaforum is sorta appropriate. "Sorta" indeed, as I guess we agree it'd be better to ask wherever the relevant material (i.e. whatever rule referred to edge, in the case) was, right? Who is the person as your avatar Kefka? Koumei had better watch out, I gue...

You do know that a +20 Stealth item'd cost 80,000 GP (if it's considered 2 skills)? Well, this one's pretty worse, but not enough to cost more than 20 times less (and that if you think the constant item'd be balanced, which I already wouldn't feel so sure on). Also, it needs a CL, which I guess'd be...

The following names are left: empower spell, sculpt spell, double-barreled. Master of Magic - name, and 6: no ban on XP costs, and I think it can be broken with the right at-will spells coming from any list (remember that sphere and spell item spells are picked according to specific criteria). Why do you believe that Lord of Thunders should cause familiar loss? I'm not quite sure why that is important here. You fail. Why do you believe a static bonus is best instead of the half character level in several feats, and if it were to be made static, what value should it have? The RNG cries - ...
