Originally in this conversation, a distinction was not made between luminaries and other supernatural creatures. In my posts, I have generally not maintained a distinction OOHH I think I begin to understand why you and Frank seem to consequently disagree on the number. Frank, when giving the 1:1000...

I've had too many GMs have all my friends, family, possessions, and household pets murdered offscreen without me having any ability to prevent it or interact with it in any way to want to put any effort into it. If my character gets a nice apartment or other attachments it's only because I trust th...

My main problem is a mix between one and two I have three players. I can GM on Friday afternoon and Evening, Saturday evening, and Sunday afternoon and evening one of them can't on Fridays, another can't on Saturday evening and the third can't on Sundays (regularly at least). So at least one third o...

This is a really weird way to phrase things. Why not just say that professional soldiers have base 13 and hardened veterans have base 16? Why do this weird comparison to undefined values? They are defined. Base is Stat+Skill. So with an Intelligence of 5 and a Business skill of 6 you have a Base of...

So, just out of curiosity:
Who are your hacker characters?
What programs do they have?
What skills do they have?
How well have they fared?

Thing with the Game Design chart is that you set a goal at the beginning and then fit all the parts so that they produce that goal. With a modular game you have to make sure that A)all the parts originally fit together B)all the parts that you replace fit together with the others and C)that with tha...

The big, big , big Problem I can see with that, is that it makes your game a loose group of sub-games, instead of a cohesive whole. And for GURPS (that says "Just take our base mechanic and add modules for it") it runs the problem of not being as good as a game designed as a unit. To parap...

It is true if it's in a PAN you'd have a bit more work to do, but the concept still works. If it's running visual data, a Fabrication program might also work to fool it if you swap the data out, or some combination there of. That's probably the best way. Get control of it and then fabricate the rig...

As to cyberware scanners, they're basically like metal detectors. There's a hand version you wave around until it beeps, and then also like a "doorway" version you walk though that lights up if it detects something. Millimeter wave detection systems, also known as cyberware scanners, proc...

IDK how you conceive of vampirism, but I think 70,000 vampires is way too fucking many. From a fluff perspective, Jedi Trick reaches into the device and does manually does whatever the device would do if it had gotten a correct input. For a Cyberware Scanner, that usually means "Display the results on this screen" and in that case Jedi Trick lets you reach in and make the sc...

Jedi Trick lets you act like you had the 'correct' credentials for whatever definition of 'correct' you care to use. Ah, so you're saying that you transmit what kind of data it is and that it is correct? Because I understood it more as a query that you answer with a placeholder. So normally it's &q...

How (if at all) should Jedi Trick interact with devices with more than a binary outcome (Pass/Fail)? With a door it's easy to say: Either it opens or it doesn't. Same with a SIN Scanner, either it gives the okay or it doesn't. But what for stuff like a Cyberware Scanner? What's "Pass" in t...

That's just the start of your problems. If the guards have a guard dog, scent auto-detects the spy even if they have +texas hide/move silently. I've been reading about Fiasco, and looking at other GM-less games The Problem I can see with that is that fiasco is short well defined (through all those items, connection types, etc.) and VERY player dependent I can totally imagine a VtM hack for Fiasco, but the problem is that for most players i...

Good question On one hand I'd say yes, they can as long as they have LOS on the party's astral forms/shadows. In that case I have to disagree with Lokathor. Normal devices are perfectly capable of receiving and retransmitting data, so they should be able to work as retransmitters if necessary [HOMEBREW INCOMING] Most of the matrix backbone is made out of retransmitters. Trill you're forgetting that Cages block their rating times four or less from going though the cage walls. So rating 1 blocks most standard electronics (unless you have a Receiver 2) rating 2 blocks even the good transmitters unless the other end has a Receiver 1 rating 3 blocks damn near everythin...

Also: Why 60BP per rating? Because a Sprite has seven Attributes dependent on Rating, why not 70BP?
