Too arbitrary. Mechanical consequence is best. Otherwise, it's down to the GM and in my experience, most GMs are shit at or cowards about coming down on stupid shit. At least if you give them this, they've got something to lean on or we've now just confirmed they're a shithead and shouldn't be host...

All that will ever acccompish is making even less people want to use cybernetics. Have to agree. 5e is already Magicrun as fuck, simply because only mundanes get weakened. I calculated an example, where if you take some hard runs twice a month you can upgrade your Move-By-Wire system from 1 to 2, g...

One very min/max Troll concept in SR4 moved slowly, but with how he was set up, he seemed to erode barriers and be able to simply walk through walls because of his unarmed damage against barriers. Ah, yes. Bear-Who-Walks-Through-Walls. A Bear shapeshifter adept putting everything into barrier break...

I'm using SR5. Don't know about 4th. I'm going to take your word for it that it applies cross-edition. It does. Huh... Why didn't they just do it as a second coming style, then? That sounds really wonky otherwise. At least specializing where you have a good shot at beating Magician 1-2 levels above...

Submersion is Awakening. What? Submersion is literally the TM equivalent of Initiation. SUBMERSION Submersion strengthens the link between the techno- mancer and the Matrix Resonance. Similar to an Awakened character’s initiation, submersion is a very personalized and ego-wrenching experience, a pr...

Would a Matrix Chaff Grenade be valuable? Basically a grenade that for a short time creates a localized Noise Background. Fluff it as dozens of light tags making a cloud of micro-Jammers. Advantages: Precise. You can throw the grenade and the field will be where you hit. Not shootable. While you can...

From what I recall there are a few reasons to be a SIN-less awakened A) While the number of awakened has miraculously both risen and stayed at 1% of the population, this includes all awakened. That means it includes the MAG 6 Adepts/MysAds/Mages. But it also includes MAG 1 Adepts, Aspected Mages and...

Yeah, this argument is still retarded. It's as if treating all of the components that comprise a creature as individuals produces absurd results! As if the only non-retarded option is to take the creature as something other than the sum of its parts and to completely ignore the fact that it's techn...

So what exactly are the stats of the RAS Taser? In the book it's described as Equipment Spotlight: RAS Tasers An interesting side effect of the mere existence of the RAS Override signal creates the ability to incapacitate people at a distance with fair reliability. The RAS Taser is simply a Sim Modu...

Something that I only just now realized after someone mentioned it to me: In 5e you can start mundane and become awakened during the game, without having Latent Awakening. Because there doesn't seem to be a rule forbidding you from taking the relevant quality in game. Your GM still has to approve it...

So something that I thought was insufficiently explained was the mana cycle in Shadowrun. I know that the current world (at the time of SR1) was the fifth world, that on 2012 the sixth world would begin (with magic), that the fourth world was the world of Earthdawn (a few missing things notwithstand...

The only metatypes with green skin are Hobgoblins (Ork Metavariant, have a greenish tint to their skin and black eyes) and that one elf Metavariant with green patches on their skin that can photosynthesize. If you are a normal Ork or Troll you have normal human skin colours (from almost white to 23:...

Quick question for those better versed in the old school SRs of yore: Has there been a difference between born trogs and goblinized trogs? Because 4e said Many first and second generation orks and trolls—especially those who goblinized—died young, while Bull says that Goblinized trogs have human lif...
