Re: On Bards (and Skylord's Tears mechanic spillover)
edited my earlier post.
Yeah, Warchanter does get some cool features. Not one of the songs is worth the number of charater levels you sink in a nonspellcasting class to get it, though the level 10 one is a lot of fun if you summon if you party with a summoner.

Re: On Bards (and Skylord's Tears mechanic spillover)
That's a good question. There are to answers-- first, what the bard class does for kobolds and second, what it should look like as a PC class. [br]I picked it for the kobold boos because [br]it[br][br]-- makes a mob of weaklings a more plausible threat [br]-- provides them as a race with some magic,...

On Bards (and Skylord's Tears mechanic spillover)
So! Over at my campaign setting thread, I was looking for a "favored classes" for kobolds. (Scare quotes because I've eliminated that mechanic)[br][br]I came to the conclusion that I really like Bards. They don't have much other place in the setting, they're sorcerer-like without being sor...

Culture Spotlihgt: Dwarves[br][br]Dwarves love the earth. And they're very stubborn. Thus, the fact that the earth has been taken over by the undead doesn't bother them. Re: Skylord's Tears: A campaign
Culture Spotlight: Kobolds[br][br]Kobolds get an incredibly crappy deal in life. You see, they were created by dragons to be their servitors. This sounds bad, but actually, for the handful of kobolds who get to be dragons' lair-sevants, life is okay. They get to eat reasonably well and wear ornate l...

Ceilingcat --[br][br]Beg to differ. Frst of all, the primary cost of the ability is swift actions -- but at level one, nobody has swift action anyway. So. Genies. This isn't a culture spotlight yet, because I don't have answers. Re: Why have ability scores in skill rank driven games?
Because we want our heroes to be all-around awesome, not just awesome in their specialties. And we want it to be a natural gift, not the result of long training.

ETA: It turns out the reason I can't print an 11 X 17 document is that this feature of our printer was deliberately disabled. However, I CAN make an 11 by 17 COPY of an 8.5 by 11 document, once you reformat it.

Would you? I'm afraid I'm not very good with this formatting stuff.
When I get home, I'll do a 11 by 17 cardstock one, but for now the small paper ones will do. I have plenty of tape and volunteer labor.

Hmm... what you say makes sense, but I'm not sure I'm ready to abandon the elemental planes just yet.[br][br]First of all, I like the idea of elemental planes as sources of things. The reason the islands float in the first place is because this world is closely tied o the plane of air. The rivers an...

I haven't gotten to orcs yet, but the mechanical deal is something like this:
(as Tome Half-Orc)
Also, they're a standard player race and there are no half-orcs
