Re: How to use diplomacy for the lose!

Quick idea: Standard action, opposed Intimidate vs. the enemy's Sense Motive. If you win, the enemy percives you as the most dangerous threat and responds accordingly. If they win, they realize you're trying to draw fire and can react as they see fit.[br][br]Obviously this doesn't work against "...

I like minor effects on critical fumbles with weapons - and this includes spells. I don't use critical fumbles on skills or other checks - a natural 1 is a failure, which is a house rule, but there's no "critically fail a Spot check" or similar stupidity.[br][br]One of my players positivel...

Well, not everyone has access to/knows about/wants to use the Fire Mage. Heck, some GMs wouldn't allow the Fire Mage.

As a GM, I'd approve a weak class sooner than a super-powered one. It's easy to add bennies; it's harder to take away stuff.

I hope that wasn't a slam on FUDGE. That happens to be a fun li'l game, as long as you don't take it too seriously.

I'm all in favor of making characters somewhat more durable - no one likes to die from a single bad roll. OTOH, while I am not a killer GM, one of the things that CAN kill you in my games is your own raging stupidity. "Hey, let's open the magic box with the skulls and unholy sigils all over it!...

Y'see, if melee characters can compete on a semi-equal level with spellcasters...if an optomized party that happens to include a swordsage can defeat a lone wizard...well, obviously things are horribly broken.

Or maybe not.

The 1/4 hp thing is if you want to "4e-ize" your soon-to-be-outdated 3.5 games. The 1/2 hp thing is the official 4e method. Presumably, this is because 4e characters have more hp (and deal more damage) that their 3.5 counterparts.[br][br]As a friend of mine puts it, [sarcasm]"that's b...

D&D - hell, any RPG - of any level is only as cool, exciting and awesome as the GM + players make it. The GM has to come up with a creative yet flexible story, and the players have to offer a certain amount of investment and suspension of disbelief. Cool low-level, lame high-level...whatever.[br...

One way to keep epic-level combat epic in feel would be to make epic-level antagonists more like puzzle monsters - there's only one way to beat them, and it's not "hit them again and again." Ideally, this should be a method that requires epic-level resources of some kind. [br][br]Naturally...

I have not, but I shall do so. And being less dependant on full casters/items than non-caster classes may not make the BB good, but it's sure a step in the right direction.
