I'm not sure, power, since all the examples and methods specifically work to make the story-driven adaptable settings with power accumulation.

Re: Anyone feel like min-maxxing in D&D anymore?
I don't like min-maxing D&D anymore because it used to feel like it had rules, and now it feels like 2.0 again - where anything goes, and there's no rhyme or reason to it.[br][br]They don't add in interesting rules, or fix what's there, they just layer on more and more spells and abilities which...

Since end of the world subjects have become popular again - after being out of style since the Cold War - I've run into a few on cable, and seen how terrible their production values have been.[br][br]While I don't really ponder why these are popular, since it's a simple answer that the Christian com...

Balanced decks don't win. The combos win. Because when the combo fires, it wins. The deck is designed to fire its combo - even 'balanced' decks - and if it fires first, it wins.[br][br]I don't like min-maxing D&D anymore because it used to feel like it had rules, and now it feels like 2.0 again ...

I wish they were clearer on writing about this subject. The fact that constructs can't be healed, yet don't have any language in the spells is annoying. It's like it was all an afterthought.[br][br]If you want creatures to be immune/vulnerable to a class of spells, it ought to have some obvious flag...

Prestige classes sound cooler when they're woven into a story, and that's the idea here.

I rather like this idea, myself.[br][br]Automatic weapons could be turned into templates, which the spray or burst would be assigned randomly - Frank's die method would be useful here. Some of the damage lands, and poof, you've got damage to deal.[br][br]In D&D, you can opt not to use your Dodge...

Why is this 'dangerous', RC?[br][br]It simulates highly accurate, but low damage; and highly inaccurate, but high damage. Or the damage output that a combatant can do is mitigated from being 'engaged' by another combatant:[br][br]If Fighters I-III focus on A; B and C will be free to hack on the backs of Fighters I and II, doing more damage than they otherwise would.[br][br]Basically, making combat more into 'suppressio...

Stats aren't trumps - it doesn't matter how much you beat someone with your Attack over their Defense if you also then have Damage and Mitigation.[br][br]Which is, by the way, how D&D does it: You have your Attack (BAB, Spells), vs their Defense (AC) and your Damage vs their Mitigation (Saves, H...

Random, I don't see how your argument faces my point at all.
Wasn't my point, a page ago, that the uses of the stats needed to be balanced first.
The number of stats otherwise is irrelevent.

I still say there's no reason for races to have insane stats.
