Re: Realism is an Unrealistic Goal

In D&D, orcs have normal human skin tones plus some grays. If you bring in a bright green orc that's a consistency problem, even though it may seem "realistic" to people who play a lot of Warhammer. [br][br]Well I'll be... the MM says half-orcs are greenish, but full orcs are grey. :c...

Re: Spells as weapons.

Then you'd have to switch Druids, Clerics, and Bards over to a Wizard-like spell acquisition system (you have to do that anyway), and then the spontanaity of the new Wizard would leave the Sorcerer completely redundant and you could drop it altogether. Are 3e's tactics very different from AD&D's?

Teleport ambushes.
Druidic tjeese.
Fabricate.
Magic-item dependency.

Were these always problems in earlier editions, or did the designers screw up 3e somehow? I never played much AD&D, and I'm still stunned by how different 3e is from Basic D&D.

If it's just a straight bonus to attack, then you'll never end up actually using the offhand weapon, so it won't matter if you're weilding a MW dagger there or a +5 shortsword. I'd like to give some advantage to someone wielding two magical weapons without actually giving them more attacks [br][br]...
