How do you get immunity to ability damage? Well, since twinned split rays are generally a PC thing, the way monsters are immune to ability damage are: 1) Being undead 2) Being a construct 3) Being some other creature that has that feature. 4) not having an Int score (not quite the same but does inv...

Actually RC, a regular ray of Stupidity is an insta kill on most magical beasts and all animals. when you start getting into twinned split rayed maximized empowered ones it's a 1-hit KO on everyone except the Wizard, for which it might as well be because he's now at 9 int. Of course, it doesn't matt...

Well Archmage is a PrC actually worth taking, and one could make the argument for Assassin back when it had spells.

Come on guys, he all know the Piazo design guideline:

"We promise to reduce 3.5 D&D to six options. Just six. Promise."

A very brief summary of the arguments boils down to the fact that one side says: "We should just make up an AC that makes sense, like 25 for a level 1 fighter, instead of doing bullshit tax codes. I fucking promise this will come out with the same numbers as if we actually make characters follo...

I am well aware of that. It's just that they went out of their way to take away every way of depriving dex bonus.

Rogues are stronger for those of us who hate the "splash weapon + sneak attack" cheese. I prefer the ol' "hide and flank, and maybe a little invisibility" instead of the "ring of blink + acid flasks. Other versions of rogues that are weaker: 1) Archer rogues. 2) TWFing poun...

More lulz at andyjames in the "private" forum. Can I see the link for that? I'm a bit scattered and don't know what is being said there, but I have a BG account. Had one for a while apparently. You need to make 12ish posts before you can see it. It'll become visible once you post enough. ...

A little more multiclassing would give BAB of +16 without actually sapping the rogueish nature of the build. However, that wasn't the point, so again I agree. Well certainly subject to changes, but any multiclassing other then Barb should be saved until after level 11 when the Rogue can gain Superi...

Then I have to agree with the assessment. I think Polymorph does grant spellcasting according to the rules, though I can definitely see why it would be houseruled. Spellcasting is not a supernatural ability, nor a spell-like ability and Polymorph grants extraordinary and natural ones. Doesn't reall...

Then I misunderstood your post, I don't you meant Factotums could cast Shapechange. I want to ask this directly, because English is my third language and at times that makes picking up innuendos a bit difficult: Are you blaming for JaronK's claims or simply asking my opinion about them? 1) Well acc...

I don't think any class should be balanced under that assumption. Saying that a specific class, be it Factotum, Rogue, Fighter or whatever, is awesome because they can use an admittedly overpowered tactics to get a powerful class feature of some other class is not valid. At least not in my opinion....

Well I'll ask you Tshern, since I can't currently post anywhere to JaronK about this. Do you think the factotum should be balanced under the assumption that Factotums can gain the casting of other classes? In fact, JaronK explicitly mentions getting Solar casting from Shapechange. So does that mean ...

either edition of Spycraft has the most forgiving yet realistic gun rules I've seen. It's not as though you're toting panther cannons and wasting folk right and left--there's a real difficuty in being an expert in ranged combat in either system. Realistic gun combat involves people who have just pi...

Yes, because as we all know, the thing that is wrong with third edition is that rogues can kill things. The problem they have is that Rogues main class feature is actually useful. So they make every vulnerable to SA, but then, to screw it over, they take away everything good to get SA. Basically, r...

Yeah, the combat utility of an ability is almost completely dependent on its casting time. Instant tree could be a great combat ability if it works like a tree token. Otherwise, it's pure utility. Similarly, the tree fort. And an unrelated question: is there a reason "field of ears" was c...

I ranked swordsage higher because rogues are binary. If you can get immunity to SA (say with blur at low levels and fortification armor or veil of undeath at high levels) So in other words, your rankings are based off of duels? Fortification Armor: Rare, expensive, useless. Veil of Undeath: Just pl...

That still doesn't explain why the the rogue hasn't stumbled across a bow and a ring of blinking. That alone is superior to nearly anything a swordsage can do. And if he's TWFing, he should have a Barbarian dip for pounce and flurry. The problem with any tier system that ranks the rogue, is that peo...

No we aren't talking about protecting roles like Wizard/Hammer Guy/Rogue/Sickle guy. Frank has said several times now. Stabbing people and casting spells are not roles, it is a slider. So in other words, Rogues are actually better trippers the fighters. Because they max out every Str related skill and get check bonuses of:
