Well for the Monk's Ring, is haste limited to 4/day as well? Is Enlarge?

Keep in mind that infinite uses of Enlarge Person at CL 1 pretty much means you know have a permanently enlarge Monk.

It's dumbass melee fighter, and "classic" melee fighter. Basically the difference between the PHB and Tome Fighter. The difference is that some people think that the "Classic" melee Fighter does what he does by skill points and cool class features, and so the class should have th...

Just to add in on the whole "Are you going to drop you Greatsword to pull out those throwing weapons?" Note. What 3.5 Fighter with Quickdraw and half a brain ever has a weapon drawn when the fight starts? Seriously now. EDIT: Thought of an answer to my own question, A spiked Chain wielder ...

I'm sure that Frank, one of the Tome authors is absolutely way to lazy to come up with flavor text or change some mechanics. I bet that's just his problem.

RC, you are missing the most important part: A 4E fighter can: Knock someone down. Push someone around. Take a to hit penalty for more damage. Hit multiple people. A 3.5 Fighter can: Push someone, knock them down, take a to hit penalty and do more damage and then hit multiple enemies. They do the sa...

Ways to keep people dead:

Metal that absorbs souls.

Trapping Souls in Gems.

Shapchanging or Binding a Bhargest to show up and finish someone unconscious off.

At lower levels, turning them into Undead or burning the body prevents most resurrection.

Can be immune to, sure. Yeah you could have a death ward up, but that's by no means assured. I mean, yes, it's possible to survive if you play perfect, but it just takes one mistake where the PCs happen to be tired from a long day at work or maybe their head just isn't in the game, and that one mis...

Of course. But anything that's strong enough to prevent a risk of death in a rocket launcher tag game is going to be able to kill you, and given the short term volatility of the RNG, it's actually pretty likely at that during one battle you are going to accumulate enough bad luck to actually die. I...

Yes there is a Demiplane of Diamonds. It's called Celestia, it very specifically has mountains of Diamonds. And yes you can expect any non-crap DM to allow it, because if he doesn't then he's a damn Dick for making you take a permanent penalty to raise some guy, even though you could totally do it w...

Re: Why do they hold back the cool toys until level 25-30?

Perhaps the design thoughts for this game wasn't the thought of backloading, frontloading, or powers in general, but rather just to create a balanced system among the classes itself? After all, the game doesn't have to be as narrow minded as this whole 'real ultimate power' I've been seeing crop up...

A lot of your talk about needing some crazy weird setting to justify X is missing a huge point: Read the Tomes. D&D already has that setting. You don't walk into some random shop and throw down tons of money, you are in a Planar Metropolis and you trade Hope for a kickass Sword, and the reason y...

Theoretically? OK. I agree with you. Practically speaking? No dice. Every single person I play with basically plays for the two KODT player pacifiers - loot and XP. People like getting magical stuff that makes their characters better. Except you can easily get magical gear that makes you awesome wi...

See, I'm with K, when I read people trying to set up raising McCuteKid as a moral dilemma, I was wondering what game you are playing. I mean, Joe Cleric gets access to Planeshift at the same level as he does Raise Dead, so as soon as he can actually do anything with Diamonds, he already has an infin...

This does seem a bit incongruous to me. I haven't read 4e rules, but is casting a ritual really such an amazing monster-attractor that you think you can find places in the world enough that are safe enough to eat, sleep, conduct trade, and build civilizations, but are not safe enough to chant for 1...

If you, as a hardened adventurer, can't find a way to hole up somewhere where random wandering goblins can't get at you for 10 lousy minutes, then you deserve whatever you get. Why shouldn't breaking down a door be faster than casting knock? Knock can open more doors than either brute force or nimble fingers. The trade-off is that it takes longer. No it doesn't, Breaking down a door has a 100% success rate. You can't find a door anywhere in the game that can't be broken d...

You don't think about when to use them, you just ask yourself the following question, "Is their anyone who doesn't want me to complete the ritual within 1000ft of me, or otherwise able to hear me chanting, or within line of sight?" If the answer is yes, you don't cast. And I happen to thi...

Okay, a lot of that is pretty fuzzy towards what you actually mean for it to do, but here's how I read it: Level 1: Class abilities nothing Feats, Rangers get four feats at level 1. Level 2, nothing at all level 3, another four feats. Level 4, Leadership level 5, another three feats. level 6 feat. l...

But D&D is a game. What's the point of obsessing about a game version that you don't like? It's not like anybody here is getting brainwashed against their will into playing 4th Edition. If gamers don't like it, they go play something else, WotC loses sales, and hopefully, they will learn from t...
