Psion should use both verbal and somatic components. Nothing I've seen in comic books or read in other books suggests that a psychic character stands still and says nothing while focusing on making their powers work. *headdesk* Let me spell the problem out for you. If a Spellcaster cannot apply the...

Judging__Eagle, I suggest you reread the train of conversation. This whole tangent started with a comment that one could play a Sorcerer reflavored and it would make a good Psion. I tried to point out why that didn't work. Verbal and Somatic Components to spells being a good example of why you can't...

I don't recall saying that Psionics was up to Tome-level spec. (Although it is less exploitable than Arcane and Divine Magic-whatever that may be worth.)

That depends mostly on how you define "mook." The lowest class of monster you're expected to face, according to the Monster Role thread, is an Imp-a -5/-15 creature! (-5/-15 means that the Imp has about a 5 CAN PENALTY to their effects against you, and you have about a 15 CAN BONUS to effe...
maybe the psion-sorc has to do special chants and hand signs and wave little idols of ganeesh to make his mental powers work. Then they aren't mental powers: they're some sort of formula. magic and mental powers can still have formulas.
Formulas which require you to wave ...

Frank said that combining them is possible, but he'd rather not. I'd have to go looking for the thread to find his exact reasoning.

[You know, I agree. Astral bukake is an integral part of the flavor of psychic control. When someone tries to remove the ectoplasmic facial from psionic charm person, it's time to put down your foot and say, 'No!' How the hell is a telepath supposed to charm someone? Augmentation? Concentrating rea...

Somatic Components (and ASF) Why do their powers have to be done standing still? Plenty of psychic characters in fiction wave their arms around, such as bodily hurling bolts of psionic energy, holding their hands to their heads (and chanting "OM NOM NOM NOM!!!") to do telepathic things, e...

Didn't we go through this recently? Let me spell it out for you. There. Are. No. Hit. Points. You keep pounding on the enemy until someone gets a Tier 4.

For ease of reference, I'm putting Frank's most recent CAN notes here. That's essentially the entire Effect Roll. I don't terribly understand what would constitute a flashy attack, or even a Save-or-Die, unless it's just an eloquent way of describing a high-CAN attack. And if the flashy attacks are...

Just play a Sorcer and call it a Psion. Unfortunately, the mechanics as written do not support that . In particular: Verbal Components Somatic Components (and ASF) Insignificant Material Components You can burn a feat to cure that last one, but the others stand in opposition to the flavor of a Psion.

Some of TGD people have a real hate for the Psionic classes, b/c really, they don't do anything for the game. They add the ability for you to play (1) someone who is smart and blows things up with his mind or (2) someone who beats things up with help from her mind. The mechanics just don't hold up ...

While I happen to agree with Maxus-who forgot to mention the other bonuses you get to the Parry Roll-that sort of thing does worry me.

Does Knock Down's +0 benefit violate the RoW idea a bit? Perhaps it should be just "You always have The Edge when preforming size-based combat techniques.{"

Active Defense [combat] Ah ha! Benefit: If an opponent meets or exceeds your Armour Class on a melee attack's roll, you may, at the cost of an Attack of Opportunity, preform a Parry Roll. To roll a parry, roll a d20 and add bonuses as per an Attack Roll. If you meet or exceed your opponent's Attack ...

A few things: 1) I made the Psychic Weapon feat like I did for a few reasons. One was so that anyone could wield it, not just those with Concentration as a class skill. Second was that since the weapon had no type to the damage, adding one, as well as increasing the base damage, increasing the criti...

You're better off reading through all of the TNE threads instead, as most of the material on the wiki hasn't been updated yet.

Hero A smacks Badguy 1 for X Damage. Not possible, as there is no "damage." There are "effects." The default effects each provide +1 to CAN (the Effect Roll). There are also no tracks. The opponent accumulates effects (and removes from him/her/its-self) until someone takes the o...

Amra, two things: !) The magic number is actually 20 from a 3d6. The first three tiers each inflict a cumulative +1 to effects against. 2) I don't think Frank wants any +1 to CAN "in general" permanent (of effectively so) effects. He said that to bonuses to the to hit roll, and I think the...
