Why not just make the range bonus +80'/4 instead of +20'/4?

Re: Perilous System

It would definitely be helpful to have some idea of what you expect opposition to look like.[br][br]I could do up stats for goblins on my own, but there are a lot of fiddly thigns to get right. I'm also unclear on how this system handles nonhumanoid monsters. Maybe Giant Spiders use an exotic weapon...

Re: New Edition: Iconic Characters

Well my theory was that Black is about self over group, and white group over self.

So making undead slves is Black, while sacrificing your afterlife for the common good is white.

Re: New Edition: Iconic Characters

How about Undead Bodhisattvas?[br][br]in this cosmology, being undead would be a Bad Thing -- in that it makes your quality of lfie go right down. When you're dead, something's wrong with your soul so you can't be truly happy. Plus, you'r ein permanenet violation of your dharma, can't have children,...

Re: New Edition: Iconic Characters

The other White race is hippo-folk. They're basically a mesopotamian empire -- I was thinking faux-Egyptian, but if that doesn't fit, we could go faux-sumerian or whatever.[br][br]The point is that they live on the river beds, used water magic and irrigation to form the first large-scale argicultura...

Re: New Edition: Iconic Characters

Well, first of all, I think Garudas would logically be the high-altitude race, with another white race for the lowlands. [br][br]Also, they should have extreme sexual dymorphism, since they are bird people. [br][br]I also think their physical appearance depends a bit on thier culture. As originally ...

Re: New Edition: Iconic Characters

Well, if you want flight to be selectable ability rather than a racial feature, they could have translucent magical wings instead of physical ones, though thatd etracts a bit from the bird-man appearance. Giving them a hawk-head would still make them pretty avian though.[br][br]As for gnomes, maybe ...

Re: New Edition: Iconic Characters

Does anyone like my Garuda write-up?[br][br]They could be a White race if they're still do-gooders, maybe with extraordinarily orderly and well-policed towns none of them can stand to live in for more than a few months at a time. [br][br]The taboos would be a deliberately chosen penance.[br][br]Or, ...

Re: New Edition: Monsters

Frank --[br][br]I don't understand why you want to decouple level from power in that way. Why not make a monster as powerful as a PC of that level, with different monster "classes" to designate the role.[br][br]So level 7 PCs can fight a level 9 monster as the "boss," but it's hi...

Re: Skylord's Tears: A campaign

I like Elementalist Kobolds, actually. [br][br]More issues: Ogres. Rel Gians have cloud castles and whatnot; I don't know wher ogres live. They hve no abilities which would let them survive on the ground, and I can't see them holding territory in the air. They really only need to show up as muscle f...

Garudas -- Because I laugh in the face of D&D law/chaos.[br][br]Originally, these guys were White extraplanar beings, like angels or something -- stern LG smite-the-evildoer types. Some of them got uppity, went bad cop, and through excessive pride and excessive dedication pissed off their superi...

Okay, two things:[br][br]The gods ARE power sources after a fashion. You can totally go find the "Skylord's Talon," a blue crystal rapier of dragonslaying. And there is totally an awesome story about how the skylord gave it to a butiful warrior queen to defend ehr kingdom with. And if you ...

Re: New Edition: Monsters

Look, I don't have to do it the lazy way. I have enough D&D rules-fu to cook up a beastie with enough Ac DR, mirror images, etc. to live for a long time. And, honestly, bossess *shuld* have memorable mini-puzzle defenses like that. But sometimes it's best to just give them a bucketfull of HP. Th...

Re: New Edition: Monsters

Indeed, Bosses should have awesome defenses that mke them hard to kill -- either they need a puzzle, or justthe party pulling out all thier flanking, buffs, etc -- while having offense that's nothing special. Preferable debuffs and terain control rather than direct damage, to draw things out.

what does one have to do to get into the WotC Mature forums?

I understand it's not really a lace you'd want to be, but I recently turned 18, and wanted to poke my head in for the sake of having done it.

Hwever, the forum seems to be missing. What gives?

Gadgeteers sound Mixed to me anyway.[br][br]If you don't like Pirate, how about "strategist"?[br][br]He uses tactically interesting debuffs --- hit to blind, hit to damage movement, et, hit to grant fire vulnerability, etc. He buffs the party by giving orders and whatnot. [br][br]For nonco...
