Re: Why is mounted combat so good?
The mounted charge option is really replacing two charging characters with one attack roll. So why is it uber-powerful to replace two attacks with one that's twice as damaging? [br][br]Because you replace one weak ass attack + one supposedly level appropriate one, with one thats worth 3 level appro...

At its core it's having Divine Favor and Divine Power up whenever you need it.[br][br]While there are various way to assure that, the easiest would be grabbing Divine Metamagic (Persistant) and a couple of Nightsticks to power it. Re: Tips and tricks for a new campaign, please!
Keep your adventures short. Until you get a better feel for it, you'll probably want to err on the side of too short and too obvious, looking up rules and roleplaying the noncombat parts of the game use up a lot of time.

Re: SR4 Decking makes me sad
Normally you won't have to "decrypt" a device to hack into it. In SR4, encryption only works on static data objects. To run an encrypted program, you decrypt the whole thing.[br][br]So the only times you use decryption are to decode intercepted communications or "paydata." [br][...

Re: RC's new skill system (Part 1: Stealth Skills)
Since keeping the DC's & Boni seems like the point, goign back to the broken mechanic of one person getting half the bonus than the next each level, seems like missing the point. Plus the trained rogue will have a better bonus than the untrained Paladin anyway.

Re: Designing the perfect Caster class
[br] Why? you just redefine the flavor. Maybe it's a chant to the god of war granting and drawing strength from the fervor of combat as opposed to the miracle adrenal boost. Remember, this is magic we're talking about, not science. Magic doens't have to make sense. There's no real reason why you can...

Re: Designing the perfect Caster class
Big difference being that in a normal game you don't roll initiative every turn because it becomes boring pretty quick, so everyone just glosses over that part with the implicit understanding that the GM will ask for rolls when it actually matters, not because you ever are in a undefinable "out...

OTOH there´s the Spelldancer, Astral Projection, Artificers and Infinite skills, Balor/Chronotryn Mining and the weird Phoenix Shpechange Magic Jar Interaction.
That´s probably only a small subset though.

Re: Removing Saving Throws
More complicated sounds a bit easy for a system where you have to keep track of a damage score for every spell that has ever been or will be cast upon you. [br][br]But if you want to go ahead with this you could, instead of rolling huge amounts of dice (which tend to roll average anyway), simply let...

Agreed, Frank. [br]I was talking more about a theoretical, not the D&D as published scenario of spontaneous vs. prepared casters.[br]IIRC the spells gained through Sandshaper are a leg up, but still don´t go the long way to amke a sorceror a viable choice.[br][br]There´s also a PrC that makes yo...

Re: Sandstorm: DnD effects for having sand in your shorts.
Pathetic.
As soon as you reach a certain amount of spells, having them spontaneously actually would be better then having access to all spells after preparation IMO, being down two levels for casting is still a bummer though

Re: All monsters grapple now.
I don´t really see the big problem with it. Monsters already did natural weapon damage, and grappling being the opposed test it is this either worked good enough to disable a character while it was grappled, or was a waste of time anyway. All that has changed is that monsters who owned your face in ...
