First step is, of course, to reorganize the entire d20 boards in a manner that would break the CharOp hegemony. Mike selected to lump everything into a pile in the hopes of diluting things, but personally I would have simply divied things up in a new and arbitrary fashion to force people to form ne...

Shadowrun!
I bought the latest version of Shadowrun, and I really like it! I have heard of three previous editions, and want to know the major differences between the systems in case 4th ed. is not up to snuff. What I am most interested in is whether SR3 or SR4 is more friendly to beginning players and a strea...

Re: *D&D 4ed*
Scott Rouse of the WotC think police has publicly said that its a legit version, 'stolen from the printers'. There is a small possibility thats its not the 100% final version, based on the date, but its definitely a legit copy. And I thought that you guys took anything WotC says with a grain of sal...

Re: *D&D 4ed*
Those are made by people trying to score a quick buck off of other people's work; they are not known for making quality pieces of game balance. Sounds like D&D by WotC to me! :) Sounds like every RPG ever made. Most JRPGs involve "young, angst-filled teenager sets off to defeat the evil em...

Re: *D&D 4ed*
I have before me a copy of the 4ed rules. Still reading over it; too soon to say about balance issues. Working on it; feel free to ask of specifics. You said that it was a bootlegged version. Those are made by people trying to score a quick buck off of other people's work; they are not known for ma...

In Shadowrun 4th, if you have both Gymnastics and a Melee skill, you can use either of them any time you would normally roll Dodge. So Dodge is only worth buying if you wern't going to buy EITHER Gymnastics or a Melee skill. Tried looking up the Gymnastics skill in the Skill section, but it did not...

Oddly enough, in Shadowrun that happens to not be true, especially in Combat Heavy Games. The way it's calculated, you add your Dodge skill or an appropriate other skill to your defense. If you're a combat character and have the skill appropriate for every part of combat, you don't actually need to...

#3. A fighter too dumb to carry a back-up weapon is, in fact, a dumbass melee fighter. In my Tome game, I had a two-weapon sword fighter that pretty much refused to buy a bow. When the group was on a gondola through a canyon while Hill Giants were pelting rocks, he tried to climb the 120 foot tall ...

Well, in Rifts, robots are things you build, and are different from cyborgs (people who have limbs/organs replaced with cybernetic parts). At no part are any of these born. Vampires aren't born, they're converted as with most other sources. So if a vampire and a human get it on, you get... nothing!...

What you fail to understand is that LotR is low level, like level 5 at the most. LotR fanboys want warriors at all levels to fight like a level 5 warrior does. This. And the few real spellcasters are either god-like elves or elf-like gods, a fad that unfortunately carried over into the wonderful wo...

Another thing is that unless somebody has an extensive knowledge of these settings, it's hard for even people intimately familiar with the Tomes (which I'm not, BTW) to tell whether or not your flavor text fits their mechanics. I read a lot about the setting in the SRD and message boards. Two, I pi...
