But to a fanboi the rules are perfect. Fixing them is clearly impossible. Those four words are an assault on their beliefs, hence the insane resistance to changes that won't change how they play the game one bit. I don't really see the point in trying to correct them, right or wrong. If they enjoy ...

That really doesn't apply to the thread about adding four bloody words to a document to help remove abuse of the rule. Sacred Cows are more on the line of removing certain conventions of the game (Vancian casting, etc) Sorry, I misinterpreted the conversation. I meant to say that they don't like th...

Flavor can't be made wrong the way mechanics can. The only way you're going to get your work insulted is if it's purely retarded or completely lacks verisimilitude. And that's why I'm an amateur writer and not a game designer. More on Midnight: Life Sucks, and so does the afterlife With the setting...

This assumes that the source material you're talking about is the Howard stories and not the Schwarzenegger movies or movie-inspired comics. Thankfully, I'm talking about the books, not the movies. Are you talking about this RPG? http://www.sorcerer-rpg.com/brochure.php/sorcerer-intro.html I ask be...

Conan the Barbarian RPG
I have noticed that there is a d20 Conan the Barbarian RPG out there, but I want to know if it matches the feel of the source material. I heard that the magic system is different, but I'm still hoping for no wish/shapechange cheese. I was thinking of The Riddle of Steel (which was inspired by Conan)...

What, no criticisms so far? Come on, guys, if I wanted unadulterated praise, I'd join the WotC boards! Lay on the heat!

Shadowrun models the kind of thing that Frank is talking about. Supernatural power takes a far back seat to gunships and tactical strike teams, but in WoD you really can just have the entire SWAT Team as your personal guard. Shadowrun has only limited mind control, BS shapeshifting, and implicit as...

Frank-ified Game Settings!
I think that the Tome series are spot on, and I'm planning on bringing them over to the fluff of the various campaign settings. As the Tomes cover Planescape and Greyhawk quite well, I'm going to start with some of my favorite settings: 1.) Midnight 2.) Freeport: City of Adventure 3.) Kingdoms of Ka...

Who say we like 3.P? I prefer to think that we dislike it (but not hate it, because I tend to reserve that for Nazis and Scientologists), but that it at least qualifies for our ire, whereas 4E has done a complete faceplant and we stopped caring. Whereas we like 3.5 enough to make changes to the bad...

LE arcane casters win the Wish Economy
If you use Planar Binding on an Efreet, then the spell is Lawful Evil. The monster's subtypes that you summon become the subtypes of the spell (Binding an angel makes the spell Good, binding a demon makes it Chaotic, Evil). Thus, blackmailing an angel to do your services is Good. Now, I couldn't fin...
