I think that K-Wizards would also need metamagics on their blasting to make it worth their time. Regardless of resource cost their is also the opportunity cost of 1 rounds worth of actions. 3E's Hp totals VS blast damage will still make that a poor trade. You're playing a game with a bunch of tome ...

Dean, regular blasters need metamagic to make their blasting spells not a waste of prep time. A K-Wiz has a completely different opportunity cost arrangement with his spell slots. Regular level 5 wizard prepping fireball to cast once is kind of ass for obvious reasons. K-Wiz prepping fireball is a b...

Originally Lolth was just some high level demon, and you could travel to the Abyss, stab her in the face repeatedly, then take her legs as trophies or whatever. She got a bit of an upgrade over the editions, but if you want to go back to god killing you should consider just rolling back the levels a...

If you mean a sorcerer with the magic equivalent of problem solver, you may be looking for this one . If you mean something else, you'd have to explain yourself. I mean instead of having problem solver you just one have one more bonus combat feat so there's less shuffling around memorizing new thin...

How about a 'sorcerer' version of the Tome Fighter? If you mean a sorcerer with the magic equivalent of problem solver, you may be looking for this one . If you mean something else, you'd have to explain yourself. And is the Tome of Prowess any good for noncombat utility expansion? http://dnd-wiki....

It's obvious that the roll structure of d20 stealth leans on iterative probability to cause you to fail quickly, and once you fail it's stealth over because of retry rules and seeker bonuses. Most of these are solvable problems. [*]You can vastly reduce the rolls required and make stealth a single c...

Since you're starting with a skill vs. skill setup, anything that you add to one side that isn't countered with other bonuses easily will shift odds from even into unlikely (or likely to even, if you set them up that way to start). You could introduce/retain feats to boost attack rolls to counter it...

If you're sold on d20 + <relevant weapon skill> vs X + <highest weapon skill>, you can set X to push certain behaviors to help make those feel even more different. For example, set X to 7 instead of 10 and then give +3 bonuses per round for different behaviors. Anyone defending with accuracy might g...

When magic requires a roll, however, it gives the impression that magic is fallible and less inherently powerful. So the spell roll is purely a flavour thing. Because there are two chances for, say, Flame Burst, to fail, compared to a standard weapon attack, attack spells can do a bit more damage t...

After seeing your excessive spell roll thing in the other thread, I went looking to see if it had been discussed elsewhere. And it isn't. But this is older, and likely the root of that nonsense, so we'll pick this up here. Main Changes Between d20 and Midgard Combat Attack Bonus is skill based. You ...

Re: Magic resources in Midgard
Did you discuss this in another thread, because holy fuck is that a lot of rolls for a basic attack.Prak wrote:[*]Attack Spells are resolved like attacks. So you roll to cast, roll to hit, target rolls to avoid, and armour subtracts damage.

If you mean the start screen, yeah. It looks likely to be replaced by a start menu that can run the live tiles if you care about those things. Re: Martials Need Time: Low Level Magic
I think a large part of why this reads as bullshit is summed up nicely here - casters need to have their concept moved away from “Person who can instantly do impossible things on command” in order to fit the genre requirements of low level. Casters just aren't that impressive or that prepared for ev...

Wanting casters to do different time consuming things instead of the same things with less time but super use limited sounds pretty good actually, and completely justified by plenty of source material. But the reasons you lead with piss me off, so I'm going to rant about why you're wrong. In a spoil...
