My two cents/nuyen/GP/currency of your choice: Class-less systems give the player a greater sense of control over their character and his development. The problem is that they give that same player actual control over the development of his character. This can (and often does) lead to munchkin or su...

I was hoping for, but not expecting, in depth analysis of every moderately well known system around. Well, glad to see that you didn't expect that as the answer. Although to be honest, I would love to see that analysis as well. From a completely subjective viewpoint, I prefer multiple dice seeking ...

Having played and GM'd a StarWars d6 game, I will add my two cents. The rules are fine for a generalized adventure game; however, once you start adding complexity the system breaks. The Force powers are just ... just ... wrong. I can only imagine that the fantasy powers (d6 Fantasy) are just as bad....

Don't know how much of a fan of handwavium you are; however, you could use the concept of some moderating force like galactic time police or an alternate person filling the same role. Scenario: The PCs try to knock off Hitler before he can launch WW2. GTP Answer: Aliens, men from the future, angels,...

Query: Why do we need a half-elf? Need? We don't. End of discussion. Why do we still have the half-elf? As Maxus said, Tradition. It doesn't come up much in my games so I have no problem just saying that the baby ends up as one (and only one) of the parent races. Elf + Human = Human OR Elf Human + ...

<SNIP> Therefore, there won't be any published alternate rules. Furthermore, unless the eternally forthcoming fan website license allows the posting of houserules, you'll have to keep any modifications to yourself or face WotC's legal brigade. I am far more scared of the Hasbro legal team. WotC pro...

Not really savvy of WotC. Are they TRYING to kill their product off? Personally, I think it'd be really funny if 4th Edition went under but 3rd continued to chug along. Who knows, it might even happen by this time next year. I don't think so. I think that they are victim to their own design. They e...

Because if PCs got the idea to actually try to improve the world, they might do something silly, like use their huge amounts of magic to approximate an industrial society instead of kill stuff. <SNIP> Yep. Pretty much. I have a city like this in my world along with the dwarf version using pure tech...

You could; however, have you never tripped over your own feet? Have you never dropped a glass? That doesn't mean that you have a negative Athletic score, it just means that you screw up occasionally. I would agree that in non-stressful situations, your idea works just fine. In stressful one, not so ...
