There's a pretty good discussion about The Enemy Within campaign on Wikipedia . It's basically pretty accurate. I think it's important to note that Casus Belli magazine was a French Language fantasy gaming magazine that focused on GW stuff. So being voted best adventure of all time by them isn't su...

Oh, touche, touche. I guess, although I never expressed anything approaching the problems you had. But seriously, though, can you follow up? I'll spot you the one about 'any system'...I really think it would be clear that I was only talking about games I knew about, and confess I haven't played ever...

Hey, here I thought this was an "in my humble opinion" forum. My bad. Seriously, it's quite impossible to prove any game system has the best of anything, nor is it possible prove that it isn't the best, or even prove that anything is 'good' or 'not good'. I thought that was sort of obvious...

Well, that's not true. Not true? Wow. Issues with the language aside (and I've played with German speakers who never even commented on that 'problem'), what system has clearly superior published adventures? Thanks. Way to move the goalposts, man. Your original claim was that the Warhammer Fantasy p...

What do the premade adventures for this thing look like? Vastly superior to any other system. Granted, there are some weak ones (a hardcover book featuring only adventures in Prague comes to mind...I'm bad with names), but there's also a long adventure, "City of the White Wolf" (again, be...

Odd, I sure don't remember character creation taking all that long...pick a race, roll stats, pick a rough profession type, roll on the chart, write down skills and equipment, modify one stat of your choice based on the chart. That's hardly more involved than many a system. I'm not saying WFRP is a ...

I won the WFRP GM thing at GenCon in like 1988...they've changed the system a bit since then (and a 4sshole at Gleemax actually claims the changes are comparable to what was done between 3rd and 4th edition DnD), but it's a good system, considering everything is in one book. It's a very low magic wo...

4e just doesn't support that option.
Huh? How so?
The rustmonster in MM2 pretty much demonstrates in complete and absolute detail "Let the dice fall where they may" is dead in DnD4.0.

You know, I could really go for Warhammer Quest about now. I actually played a WQ 'campaign' until 8th level. It gets easier as you level--the traps don't get any harder, only the monsters do. Playing at the higher levels is like one of those children's songs, where the lyrics are about the same, j...

I remember rolling up a "Slovenly Trull" or something in the old DMG, when I was a kid.

Wasn't until YEARS later I knew what that was, best I guessed from reading the dictionary (I was very young), was a female.

Certainly a good answer for an intelligent monster, but traps and oozes and such don't strike me as CDG-doing things, for the most part.

Strange rules question...

Actually came up the last time we played: Strange as it is that intelligence modifies AC, does it still modify AC when the character is unconsious? As near as I can tell by RAW, the answer is "yes"...anyone see otherwise? Similarly, 2 weapon defense adds 1 to AC, and you don't drop your we...

Dispel Magic is a daily utility, but would stop the zone until the recharge kicks in. Getting 1-3 rounds to hit the dragon after that (especially since Dispel Magic is level 6) would be rather brutal for it. Sustaining the darkness is partially viable, but if the dragon wants to play it that way th...

Alas, don't have my PHB to check if Dispel Magic could somewhat stop it (but do note that the dragon could recast it in a round or three, far less time than what it'll likely take to kill the dragon, and isn't Dispel Magic a daily or encounter power?) As far as ROFLstomp it while dazed but in darkne...

Exactly, the whole level 10 party has to be min/maxed 'to hit' to the hilt, a level 9 party of 'typical' players won't stand a chance, short of a 3+ hour battle. In any event, the level 10 party, if they blow some dailies and don't catch any bad breaks (keep in mind, that vampire can heal up 100 poi...

Hmm, you start with 'no it's not', then concede expertise, ability scores of 22, and proficiency bonus. All that remains in magic weapons...keep in mind, a level 10 party could only be certain to have the items they found level 9 and lower. Now, go through the PHB/AV, and see for yourself how few ma...

That one's not as bad as one might think. +5/+6 to primary attack score. +1 Weapon Expertise +3 Weapon Proficiency +3 Enhancement bonus +5 BAB = +17/+18 Attack bonus, which would only require 11 or 12 to hit, reduced to 9 or 10 with Combat Advantage. It's also got vulnerability 10 to radiant, so tw...

You also forgot the Vampire Lord (level 11 Elite Lurker), every bit as ill-conceived as the Spirit Devourer. It has an AC of 29. Do the math for the kind of + to hit a level 10 character would have to hit to see how wrong that is...now toss in regeneration 10 (which only sunlight can stop), along wi...

But read the phrasing of the power. Even IF the darkness could be cancelled, RAW says any creature within the area is still blinded. Gay (assuming there was any way, in game, non-houseruled, to negate the darkness)? Absolutely...but it's RAW. Maybe, cancelling the darkness would clear the line of si...

Can't Wizards cancel Darkness as a minor action? I mean, a Wizardless party simply automatically loses at life, but a Wizard Orb Gank Team does OK. -Username17 Irrelevant, since this is Cloud of Darkness, a Special Dragon Power, so even if there's a way to cancel Darkness, it's not going to work in...

Yeah, that cloud of darkness just doesn't make sense from a DnD4.0 design point of view. "All ranged characters are now useless"...this is fun? And melee characters can't really hit the dragon in such a field with anything approaching reliability. Yes, the party can retreat, but that 'sust...
