Call of Cthulhu Idea Mining

Does anyone have any good ideas for a Call of Cthulhu one-shot set in the present day, preferably adaptable to Canada? I'm set to direct a session but my brain juice has run dry. The system is a slightly modified version of CoC d20. As a result the PCs are level three with a few more skill points an...

I think, to a group of adventurers, Plot Device Spells and Artifacts of Doom would merely be typical spells and items from the next tier up. A heroic tier party won't be able to buy, create, or even fully unlock the abilities of the epic tier items until they reach epic tier. They must go on some so...

Heroes Unlimited by Palladium

Has anyone played this system? I've been invited to play a game but won't have access to the rulebooks for a few weeks, and I was wondering if anyone had strong opinions concerning the game. Are most superheroic archetypes possible? Is the game balanced? Is character generation/play fast and easy?

I'm not a big psionics user, so I didn't realize Dimension Slide existed until you mentioned it. Seems like pretty much exactly what I was going for. Thanks for the info.

Your Quick & Eazy Teleport/Scry Fixes

I was just wondering what quick patches/fixes people have tried for the annoying scry & die tactics that abound at higher levels. Among other things, I myself have ruled that teleportation spells (ex Teleport, Greater Teleport) have characters take 3d2 rounds to materialize, in a reasonably loud...

A_Cynic, although I appreciate the effort, I feel you have needlessly overpowered the class by ignoring the alignment restrictions. Extensive playtesting has revealed that a lawful FIGHTAR performs as well as a Bard, Druid, or Wizard against same level threats. Imagine the possibilities if we allowe...

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I've read your critiques and have decided to implement the following changes to make the class more balanced at all levels: Alignment: Any lawful At level 9, the FIGHTAR becomes two level 9 FIGHTARs. They need not share the same feats, skills, equipment, memories, etc....

The Ultimate 3.5 Fighter Fix

Remove the Monk, Barbarian, Fighter, Rogue, Paladin and Ranger classes from the game. Introduce a new base class, the FIGHTAR. The FIGHTAR is a five-way Gestalt (Unearthed Arcana) of the Monk, Barbarian, Fighter, Rogue and one of Paladin or Ranger (barring Spells). Flavour to taste. AT 20th level, y...

I favour having "skill tiers". A rank in the most useful skills (for the typical adventurer in a typical campaign) can be purchased for 1 skill point, as normal. Less powerful skills can be purchased for perhaps one half or even one third of a skill point. The tiering might look something ...
