Well, we could reduce the number of Companions or raise the number of fights.

Edit: Did not see last line.

The assumption is that the players will not run through 2 knights per fight. Just that if they somehow sucked at the game that badly, they could.

Not too sure if hero points are even needed. With 80 knights and about 5 players, that's about 16 knights dead per player before the campaign has to end because everyone important on your side is dead. If we go with 12 major battles and about 24 lesser fights, that's 36 fights. They players would ha...

Ok. Here's 6 people who I think could be Companions. Murg the Mighty - Focuses on wrestling and close quarters, unarmed combat. Wears chain armour, though. Can lift lesser men over his head and throw them. Rumored to have once wrestled a bear. Does not like horses very much. Lord Eric - Comes from a...

That makes the chance that the players will finish the game go up quite a bit.

Another request: Fill out something like Frank's Design Flowchart. A sample group with 6 of the Companions, then divide that group into two three man parties, design a sample skirmish and a sample battle.

Allow me to rephrase. You are using an ability in a game. In order for the ability to succeed in producing the desired effect, you must spin a spinner with three colored section of equal size (red, yellow and blue) and get red. You must also roll a single d6 and get the number 6. If you do not get r...

I like Frank's suggestion from post #3. Bag of rats is not a problem if you are killing a bag of rats to use your super attack on a giant rat. Likewise, offing a jar of imps sounds like a perfectly fine strategy for using your super move on a demon.

Assume both the dice roll and the spin are done at the same time. What is the chance of getting both a red and a 6?

For the 1st question, it's the chance of getting both a red and a 6. If you do not get red, you fail the roll. If you do not get 6, you fail the roll. If you get neither red nor 6, you fail the roll. You only succeed the roll if you get both a red and a 6.

They are sample "rolls". I want to make sure we are parsing them the same way and arriving at the same results.

Elennsar, Let's say you have a 6 sided dice and a spinner with 3 colored sections of equal size, red, blue and yellow. Based on this information, please estimate, to the best of your ability, the probability of the following events: 1] The spinner comes up red and you roll a 6. 2] The spinner comes ...

Would you be OK with a system in which, if the PCs loose a fight and are unable to flee due to their wounds, they get captured and either rescued by the rest of the PCs, ransomed back to their side or publically executed?

And do you expect the PCs to be rallying troops/leading troops at all?

You're going about this the wrong way. Rather than decide what the percent chance of getting killed in a given fight is first, decide what sort of things will be going on in combat. Then make mechanics that allow for it. Then tweek numbers that are too extreme or too puny. Start with this: Two knigh...

Floating Disk

Can a wizard ride a floating disk, as produced by the 1st level evocation spell "floating disk", thus allowing them to hover 3 feet off the ground? Does doing this allow them to ignore caltrops, difficult terrain, grease, etc.? Can a floating disk full of dirt support another floating disk?

A version of WoF which is not purely random would be, in my humble opinion, more enjoyable than a purely random version. Thus, I propose the following: All moves have a value between 1 and 6. The higher the number, the better the move. Every round, you roll a dice. You can use any power with a value...

It does not matter if something in a game does not work in a way described by nongame physics. Having breaks from what is normally possible is an important part of many stories and it would be silly to say that having such breaks is a bad idea. What you should not do, however, is have breaks from th...

It allows for non-parabolic catapults firing large, solid hunks of stone at things at extreme range and with a speed (and thus force of impact) only limited by how big of a catapult you have and air resistance. That would change warfare quite a bit.

There is 0 net gravity on the inside of a hollow sphere. Absolutely none. The Wiki article explains it well enough.
