So... how does it relate to this discussion? Yeah, it was just one example, but how does Frank's refutation of IGTNs point have anything to do with PPP? Can you see how using terms like this can confuse me a whole lot? Come to think of it, Frank didn't seem to say anything about the idea of local cu...

So they're pretty damn useless. Irritatingly, when I was talking to someone who liked the idea I disliked it, but now that I'm communicating with people who hate the idea I want to argue for it. Me being contrary I suppose. Weirdly, looking around links from the wiki pages there seem to be several l...

Berkshare, Totnes Pound and Stamp Scrips

I was talking to someone last night about something called the Totnes Pound. This is an alternative currency that is supposed to be equivalent to the pound, and can only be used within one town. The idea of a local currency seems to have been tried in multiple places, including Totnes , Berkshire in...

Back to the original topic, I was just imagining a tabletop RPG where you get various different armour parts and you could enchant the different sections. Maybe if you wear a chain shirt you get +3 to AC and if you wear chain leggings you get +1, but you could enchant each of them to +5. It would ge...

So I tried the chilli chocolate recipe, before realising halfway through that it said nothing about what to do with the egg white once whipped. After cooking someone said that it should have been mixed in with everything else. I now have 8 eggs worth of whipped albumen in my fridge. I have no idea w...

Thats the name. For some reason it slipped my mind.

At one point in the Bloodmoon expansion to Morrowind, my brother went in a building and freaked out because it had a stuffed Cliff Racer hanging from the ceiling: he thought it was alive and was just about to attack it.

I only had Morrowind and Morrowind GOTY on the Xbox, but me and my brothers had hundreds of hours of play time, even without mods. In my opinion it is much better than Oblivion or Fallout because all the locations and NPCs have brilliant character. The different towns are each actually different whe...

I like the idea in theory, making PCs of different sources act differently sounds interesting. However, I don't like the idea of having another pool of points to store so I don't like the faith points. No idea what would be better though. The martial is good in comparison because you only need to re...

I did not know that. Interesting. But theres a big difference between eating food with a side effect of alcohol and adding alcohol to flavour something. Assuming that if someone spikes my drink of coke I'll commit suicide, rather than stop drinking and getting pissed off or something similar, is stu...

Religious reasons basically. It gets really irritating when you have to read through all the ingredients to everything to make sure theres no alcohol. Its in almost everything.

Anyone else have any good recipes? All mine are straight from books every single time.

This thread is brilliant. We need more tangents that end in recipes. Unfortunately we don't use alcohol. How is the red wine chocolate cake without the red wine? I'm going to have to try that chilli chocolate cake. Theres a family who live across the road who we help out now and then and they often ...

Wait, isn't your description of HBBs exactly what people expect Defenders to be like? Focus on the main threat and force them to face off mano-a-mano, stopping them from attacking others and being able to endure their attacks even if they don't do much damage to them? So why complain if HBBs define ...

Yeah, the club/blade/exotic doesn't make much difference. You might as well split it into thrusting/swiping and make axes and hammers better at swiping and daggers better at thrusting. Then, something like shields work better against swiping attacks. Oh, wait, modern combat. Kevlar vests work better...

I do want to try and help. I think Frank is right about this class not really working, but I think its because its trying to be too wide a class. If you ignore the 'or Unicorn' then it could probably work for just a Paladin or Rogue as a Unicorn themed adventurer with various useful SLAs. Then, make...

@CatharzGodfoot: Since its a Force horn you can hit ghosts and other ethereal creatures. Thats it. [hr] You're right, Limited Wish wouldn't be too soon. I dislike keyboard and mouse for trying to get analogue movement. When I'm trying to move slowly I'd rather move the thumbstick a small amount in the right direction than to hold down another button and press the keys normally. I don't get it. Is it a prestige class or a normal class? The Unicorn Domain doesn't act like any other domain whatsoever. If it is just learning spells at a different level then why call it a Domain? The spells gained vary between meh and insanely overpowered: Limited Wish as a 5th level spell allo...

@Prak_Anima: I read it a while back and quite liked it. Yes, it has uberelves, stereotypical dwarves, incredibly noble dragons and so on, but it is pretty fun. I'm now actually curious as to whether anyone uses the rules in the PHB about natural 1s on saves against spells.

Has anyone actually had their character lose a weapon or armour or whatever to a 1 against a cone of cold or whatever?

What are people's opinions on the reverse critical? You know, where if you roll a 1 on your saving throw your equipment takes damage. I don't think its ever come up with my groups. But, it seems to be even worse than criticals. With criticals you take more damage which can make combat more swingy. B...

I personally really like the Steven Erikson/Ian C Esslemont way of doing it. I hadn't heard of anything like it before but reading wikipedia it seems to be based on AD&D then GURPS campaigns. There is a pantheon of gods called Ascendants. Most are in various houses of elements such as Dark, Ligh...
