I've always wanted to live there someday. I'd be willing to suggest that political factors have to do with the violence in the states; not so much the party v. party sense at all in any way whatsoever, but rather the fact that until recently lobby groups like the NRA and political tactics such as us...

The reason is, there is a massive fear that something will hit you at 1 hp and kill you. The same occurs in Ep. 1 with the armed grenade carrying zombies who are only a threat if you don't move around fast enough. They are a more substansial threat but still produce as much fear without the massive ...

I suggest not getting too heavily into magic and complex combat skills and etc. because having been in a Changling LARP one-off, it was confusing as hell, especially since it was the first time I had ever encountered Changling. If you are making the rules up specifically for this one-time thing, try...

If you would want to go that route, then you need to limit the number of threatened spaces that can be occupied. As in you can have 3 occupied without hitting something when you miss then after that, the mooks are hitting their friends in the head or removing their defenses/attack ability everytime ...

Skills really only go so far in that respect in that when you see a badass get crushed, they lose that image of being the tough guy. Did Joan of Arc stop being a badass after she was burned at the stake? That's martyrdom. I was thinking more along the lines of: Badass stands up to bigger tough guy,...

It really is a matter of how the character is displayed in relation to which stereotypes one associates with badass. If bad ass means to someone that the character has a bad attitude, but does things for good, albeit in a violent and reckless manner, that is their badass (ie. the Die Hard badass, or...

I think the floatstone strength ratio (1 m^3/4x8m 2 story building) is a little off. There needs to be much more floatstone in my opinion. That's just an unavoidable result of stones supporting their own mass. Cubes are just much much more massive than useful shapes of any size. For example: a cubi...

Medieval combat was oft decided with one or two brutal blow. Hence the quick solo fighting. However, how long did battles last? If you are sticking your heroes into the front lines of the fight, they may be killing waves of mooks but they will be going through hours of combat which can wear them dow...

I think the floatstone strength ratio (1 m^3/4x8m 2 story building) is a little off. There needs to be much more floatstone in my opinion. I personally imagine this as a city of skyscrapers and high-rises where there is only city, with all greenery growing in planters and very seldom if any. However...

I think it's a stretch to call the world being real more feasible than the world being imaginary. There are plenty of good reasons to deal with the world as a system of causes and effects that you have varying degrees of direct control over (mostly none), but they doesn't make any distinction as to...

I could have sworn that that sceptical challenge was answered. I believe the one I was given was that it requires more assumptions than the Real-World Hypothesis and thus was less plausible and not as good an answer as the real-world theory. Matrix theory requires that there has never been a being i...

No, what I am looking for is something where you CAN overcome real adversity, as distinct from something where the adversity is all illusion. Well sorry, an RPG isn't going to give you that, unless you hire somebody to stand next to you and punch you when your character takes a hit. Of course the a...

I think the german word for concentration camps in relation to places like Auschwitz and Dachau, is Vernichtungslager, which translates into extermination camp or interchangeably Todeslager (death camp). KZ is the abbreviation for Konzentrationslager (concentration camp). Having been to Dachau and l...

The only thing that I could think of off the bat is this: Finesse Master at level 10 Weapon master. Critical range on a rapier/scimitar reaches 13-20/x2 without keen or any other bonus or special property. That seems a little large to me, the fix being perhaps every 3 or 4 levels (min bonus of one) ...

Perhaps here in good ol' partiotic North America. My experience with Germany was different. Many people that I encountered there understood pride in German heritage to be NS identification. While it is- past a point- the basic being happy to be who/what you are should not bring shame. Not everyone w...

In my limited experience of DMing (as in effectively a total newbie), I've intentionally made TPK a 0% chance option because on the basis of: you cannot predict everything someone will do; you need to bring TPK to be the players actively looking for it (ie. taking off all armour and charging against...

Negatives: You have someone your enemies can use against you. Positives: You have someone you can rely on against your enemies. You have a comfortable home life (presumably), which means you have somewhere to return to and be comfortable with - less stress and worry and all of what that means. You ...

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING IS NOT HELPFUL. Handle it all through role-playing and narrative license. There's absolutely no reason that there needs to be a system for this. So your character has a weakness--a role-playing weakness , no less. Who the fuck cares? It gives the DM plot material. I'm actuall...
